Michelle Obama was talking about our great country and all we have done. This from the lady who 4 yrs back said "I'm finally proud of my country" something like that. She needs to decide which one it is.
Do you really wanna pull out the political flip-flopping card? Peter Rabbit would be wise to stay out of Mr. McGregor's garden...

They'll mention the troops.....while gutting their funding and strecthing them impossibly thin.
Do you really want to argue the president's record on serving our veterans? No Republican has even come close to what this Administration has done.

Firstdown goes...or something like that. haha
First Lady hit out the park tonight. I honestly don't think Bill Clinton or the president himself will do any better. She set the bar really high.
Great first night. Real people, real stories.

BS, the last round of BRAC was 2005...........
Base Realignment and Closure Commission - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Base_Realignment_and_Closure_Commission)
The Pentagon released its proposed list for BRAC 2005 (see Base Realignment and Closure, 2005 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Base_Realignment_and_Closure,_2005)) on May 13, 2005 (a date given the moniker "BRAC Friday," a pun (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pun) on Black Friday (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Friday_(shopping))). After an extensive series of public hearings (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hearing_(law)), analysis of DoD-supplied supporting data, and solicitation of comments from the public, the list of recommendations was revised by the 9-member Defense Base Closure and Realignments Commission in two days of public markups and votes on individual recommendations (the proceedings were broadcast by C-SPAN (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C-SPAN) and are available for review on the network's website). The Commission submitted its revised list to the President on September 8, 2005. The President approved the list and signalled his approval to Congress on September 15. The House of Representatives took up a joint resolution to disapprove the recommendations on October 26, but the resolution failed to pass. The recommendations were thereby enacted. The Secretary of Defense (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secretary_of_Defense) must implement the recommendations not later than September 15, 2011.

Do you really want to argue the president's record on serving our veterans? No Republican has even come close to what this Administration has done.Obama has increased VA funding for certain programs, however your point is spin at best....here's the real world:
Funding cuts and forced expeditures that don't increase fighting effectiveness/efficiency/safety can put troops at greater risk. Obama also proposed increase health care costs for troops. Examples:
- green fuel that costs $ 26 / gal vs. under $ 4 for regular fuel
- increasing costs for health care on active duty and retirees personnel....while leaving unionized civilian workers costs as-is.
Pres. Obama to Cut Health Care for Troops - President Obama - Fox Nation (http://nation.foxnews.com/president-obama/2012/02/27/pres-obama-cut-health-care-troops)
Obama to Cut Health Benefits for Active, Retired Military (http://www.newsmax.com/US/obama-cuts-military-benefits/2012/02/27/id/430757)
- draconian cuts to DoD that will severely weaken the military. The sequestration cuts are on top of another $ 500B in cuts Obama has already made.
Defense official says automatic cuts will cause 'absurdities' – CNN Security Clearance - CNN.com Blogs (http://security.blogs.cnn.com/2012/05/31/defense-official-says-automatic-cuts-will-cause-absurdities/)
- while we're playing "honey I shrunk the military" (to dangerously low levels), Obama also wants to reduce our nulear warhead capacity (our ultimate deterrent) to 5 times below what Russia has (300 to 1500). That makes sense....we've got the biggest stick, on a dangerous block, and we're going to give that stick to the Russians. Who are being ruled by a guy who is still pissed off we destroyed the USSR....in Putin. I'm sure he has no animosity at all towards us. Is this a f-ing joke?

Slingin, wait a second friend. First of all, there's no spin here. The president has done even more than what you've listed for our veterans. Like I said you'd have to look long and hard to find a president in recent memory who's done more. Your candidate didn't have the guts to mention our troops in Afghanistan or Iraq once, but he's somehow more concerned and better? Give me a break.
Secondly, the automatic defense cuts were written by Congress because they couldn't reach a deal on the debt ceiling. You remember that, right? When the right dragged the country into a ditch and ended up raising the debt ceiling anyway? So these automatic cuts were in fact signed into law UNLESS Congress, not the president, reaches some new agreement.
Let's be honest we need to shrink our military footprint. I say that as a proud former vet. We have the world's strongest and most innovative military, but we need to downsize some and reapportion funding to build up our own country.

Great first night. Real people, real stories.
Funny those real stories talked about their hard work and their grandparents hard work not about what the gov. did to help them. Its not until they started talking about the American people they talked about us needing the goverment to do what they did on their own. Castro was the best example of this and talking about his grandmother working three jobs (he did not mention gov. help). He said her hard work made it possible for them to get where he was today.
Good speeches no substance.

So then we both agree, government can't do everything for people. No argument there.
