12thMan 09-07-2012, 03:04 PM Agreed. Dems are on the defensive, asking for patience instead of talking about accomplishments. Republicans are now in the same positon the Dems were in during the 2008 election talking about a failed presidency and telling the American people that they can get us out of this rut.
Wait, we were losing 750,000 jobs per month, now we're adding private sector jobs at a clip of about 138K this year; 150k the year before. You're telling me that's not an improvement?
Most of the job losses under Obama have been gov't and public sector jobs.
12thMan 09-07-2012, 03:10 PM And let's face it if Obama wasn't running on his record, as some pretend, he'd be getting absolutely hammered in the polls. Especially in states like IA, PA, and OH. Where he's leading and voters pay attention to the issues.
Chico23231 09-07-2012, 04:30 PM Just ran the Clinton speech from the other night, WOW. That dude still got it, he is the master speaker.
JoeRedskin 09-07-2012, 04:43 PM FLOTUS speech written at a 12th grade level - POLITICO.com (http://www.politico.com/politico44/2012/09/flotus-speech-written-at-a-th-grade-level-134517.html)
LOL. One speaking at a 12th grade level and the other speaking at a 5th grade level.
From that same article:
"President Obama, on the other hand, has delivered some of the lowest grade level State of the Unions — preferring shorter, simpler sentences in his addresses."
The judgment was made upon sentence structure of the speech, not on the complexity of ideas expressed through that sentence structure.

Most of the job losses under Obama have been gov't and public sector jobs.Obama is a net job loser. There were 133.56 million total jobs when he was inaugurated and there are just 133.24 total jobs today.
In the first 29 months of the Reagan recovery, the private sector created 8.04 million jobs. Doing the math, that's 277K jobs / mo.
When you look at the numbers of folks dropping out of the workforce and other details of the jobless numbers, it's much worse than just 8.1%.
That Guy 09-07-2012, 05:02 PM "Since 1961 … our private economy has produced 66 million private-sector jobs. So what's the jobs score? Republicans 24 million, Democrats 42 (million)."
so, SS, that's a bad arguement. the above statement is true, though it's hard to say specifically who did what.

Technically politicians are supposed to speak to the public at something like an 8th grade level (I may be off, it could be higher), so I've been told. Since there are so many people who are high school dropouts, haven't gone to high school, etc. they're supposed to speak at a lower level to make themselves more accessible to the public. I guess the more technical, big words and terms you use, the more out of touch you seem.
12thMan 09-07-2012, 06:05 PM By the way, early voting has been restored back to Ohio. Awesome.
That Guy 09-07-2012, 07:18 PM yeah, that was a solution without a problem. this isn't the 1840s.
