Sean Taylor is a great player, and i would be happy if we took him at 5. I would also be dissapointed if we took winslow at 5. Vince Wilforks stock has risen due to his workouts, and tommie harris is moving up because of his 4.7-4.8 40 time. I feel that we could trade down to the 10 spot and pick up a 2nd rounder from the texans, and either get wilfork or Harris...at least one will still be there for sure. That is the weakest spot on our team...anyone agree?

Not really. I don't see Wilfolk or Harris having the type of career or long-term impact that Taylor or Winslow would have. I think we need to go into this draft looking for talent. We can't fix every aspect of the team in one year and I think a lot of our defensive players deserve another shot under a real coordinator.

Something tells me the Skins could pull something that we're totally not expecting...

Matty, I can also see that, doing something no one expects. It really depends on what kind of picks we could get for #5. With the talent at WR they have this year we could go WR. Just because Fitz, Roy and Mike W. are just so good.

Draft Taylor...thats what we should do. Damnit, i just want a great safety! when was the last time we had a great safety in DC? Look at the impact rodney harrison had on the Pats. No one want to cross the field when u had a 6'3 monster in the middle

Totally agree with you. Let's have an impact safety to make all backfield players think about him. I don't think there's any guarantee about any of the D-line in the draft making an immediate impact, but Taylor is as close to a guarantee as you can have. We know Winslow is going to be a class act but I think we can get by without him. We need more impact on D.

I really don't think we can go wrong either way.Taylor and Winslow should both be stars in this league and I will be thrilled to have either.....

Ya Tayler is much more than just a safery, he's a playmaker. When he's in the game teams will fear throwing the ball deep, one because he's a ball hawk and he'll pick it off, and two he'll smother anybody who decides to catch the ball. Teams will have to game plan around him.

Just look at some of the defense's in the league that are affected big time by good safties.
Phil. Brain Dawkins
Cowgirls Roy Williams
NEw England Rodney Harrison
Baltimore Ed Reed
I just hope we can add dc to this list.

I love Taylor. He's a team leader, a hard hitter, a coverer and a game changer. Skins009 did a wonderful job of showing how Offensive coordinators have to plan for him every time.

However, defensive coordinators also would have one hell of a time with Winslow. Just look at how we deal with Shockey, lucky for us we have the talent we do at Linebacker and LaVar can really stick with him, however, most teams don't have a LB as versatile as LaVar and that's why Shockey was able to create havoc. DC's don't know if they should put a LB on him or a DB. He's too fast for most LBs and too big for most defensive backs. It leads to a lot of mis-matches and it causes so much headache for a defensive coordinator to have a versatile TE to worry about.

Now, after saying that, I want both of these guys, but I don't really see that happening. Both will be stars as long as injuries don't set in. I would really like to see one of the two wearing burgandy and gold come this fall. I'm just glad I don't have to make the decesion as to which one to draft or I'd be asking Dan Snyder for a quarter to flip right about now.

Don't be so sure, Donny Warren predicted that we would trade next year's #1 for more pick's this year, I could see us packaging our #1 and a player or pick to move back up and get winslow, if we can fit both taylor and winslow under the cap I say do it, we can let the LB's rush the QB this year then all the line has to do is hold the point of attack, plus with all the mismatches I am anticipating that williams will create a lot of our line men will find themselves in very favorable positions to gey a clean shot at the QB, I say we do what we have to do to move up and get both player's, I also wouldn't be apposed to dumping some more pick's next year to get up into the late first or early second and grabbing a linemen, strike while the iron is hot, and there is a lot of hot prospect's this year, let's not wait around till next year, at this point the future is now! :coach:
