It's a little late now. Would have been a little late as far back as the draft.

“I love talking to you guys,” Griffin said. “It’s great every single time, but that’s Coach Mike’s decision. He wants me to talk to you guys once a week, so I’m talking to you guys once a week. The biggest thing is that I’m the quarterback and I’m the face of the team, the face of the franchise. I think we all understand that. The guys understand that if I’m getting all the attention, we’re doing extremely well on the field.”

Please don't start to get cocky, RGIII. You aren't the face of the franchise yet, though we hope you will be.

sorry, but after trading 3 firsts and a second, and literally handicapping us in the draft for the next TWO years, I think its safe to say that he will be the face of the franchise for at LEAST the next 3 years. I say three years in case he is horrible, but hopefully for 23 years if he is awesome.

I'm impressed with how the team is getting RGIII prepared for the season. I think Cooley summed it up nicely in his interview on NFLam.

I think Shanny and co. have gone about things the right way so far, from limiting his media time to crafting the offense to fit his skill set.

I agree. Wait, I thought Shanny was a egotistical maniac that forced QBs into his system? /end sarcasm Happy we have this young man on our team and look forward to watching him grow as a player.

Loved that interview with Cooley. I really hope he rebounds this year.

I don't know if shielding him from the media makes a difference unless Griffin said something perceived as controversial that whoops up the media and becomes a distraction.

...but seriously, who likes dealing w/ the media anyway lol? I'd find every excuse in the book to limit being hounded.

I think the idea is to keep him focused on what's important. Not that he would have a problem on his own, but just in case I think it was the right call to limit his press time.

Honestly,
Who wants to let the media loose on any rookie QB? The media won't stop unless you set bounds and then will push those to whatever limit you set, and call it limiting the media.

RGIII certainly will handle more pressers as time goes on, but let him get to football business first.

Its interesting because Shanny built up expectations like crazy early on, now that the season is close he seems to be trying to temper those expectations. Like all rookies, I think RGIII will exceed expectations is some areas and fall short in others but I do think Shanny is the right coach to help him manage/cope with those expectations.

Ryan Leaf is somewhere right now applauding you.
