Redskins Talking Trade with Raiders?steveherrin 07-31-2012, 12:22 AM So it sounds like we're trading for John Beck again? Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2 NC_Skins 07-31-2012, 12:57 AM So 1. Allen is now saying there are no trade talks at all. 2. I inquired, and there was a conversation but it did not involve any significant players. Just some minor players and late draft picks being tossed around as part of everyday conversation between GMs. A "totally inconsequential" conversation is what I've been told So did Matty meet your contract demands? This mean the lockout is over and Smootsmack information camp can begin? SkinsHulk 07-31-2012, 01:39 AM Bring back Chewbaca, the former Terp The Goat 07-31-2012, 02:42 AM So 1. This mean the lockout is over and Smootsmack information camp can begin? No, I'm still pondering retirement. I did pretty lazy inquiring, didn't cross-check or press the issue or anything. I would say that almost all significant discussions begin as inconsequential (and then build up). And who really knows how truthful Bruce is being I do know we came close, verrrrrrrry close, to flat out releasing Cooley over the weekend. To give him a fair shot elsewhere. So with this trade rumor, I thought well maybe they found a willing partner. 30gut 07-31-2012, 08:56 AM Enough said: Oakland Raiders Positions that Could be a Liability in 2012: Right Tackle - SB Nation Bay Area (http://bayarea.sbnation.com/oakland-raiders/2012/6/29/3122208/oakland-raiders-joe-barksdale-khalif-barnes) How does this man's opinion make Barnes worse then Jammal Brown? Lets start with the simplest tennant for being a good player: be available. Barnes started 16 games. Jammal Brown started 14 (and didn't finish all of them). Profootball Focus produces some of the most objective advanced metrics you can find, here's how they rank them: Jammal Brown (-18.5) Brown looked spent while Chester was never going to live up to the contract the Redskins gave him. At least Chester is decent at something (pass protection), can you say that about Brown? Worst Player: It could have been a lot worse starting Khalif Barnes (-16.1), so perhaps his season was something of a best-case scenario. Did they forget about the cap penalty? He denied Pittsburghs what, 4 year, 8.5 per? All rumors of trades has to take the cap penalty into account. We may not have been able to acquire a T in FA because of it, and the expenditure of Draft picks for RGIII may have impacted our abilities to acquire T's in the Draft. All of what I just stated may be as rediculous as the Bleacher Report trade, or positively any report from PFT, or BA may have just been yammering up the airwaves blowing smoke. But I'm sure it's a little bit of all of the above. mlmdub130 07-31-2012, 09:10 AM No, I'm still pondering retirement. I did pretty lazy inquiring, didn't cross-check or press the issue or anything. Maybe he could turn into a strong pass catching TE for us. NC_Skins 07-31-2012, 10:07 AM I do know we came close, verrrrrrrry close, to flat out releasing Cooley over the weekend. Not surprised by this considering all off-season the ES crew has been talking about Cooley being gone either this year or next. My guess is that he'll be hard to trade with that type of price tag on him so releasing him may be the only option. This enforces my belief in getting whatever we can for him while we still can. |
