Lotus 07-22-2012, 09:25 PM Are these assuming someone other than Griffin is throwing passes at some point? Otherwise, the mathz don't seem right.
Nope, just guessing. I did math with TD's but forgot math with receiving yards. Given your helpful comment, I would shave 75-100 yards from everyone I listed and then things work out better.
SmootSmack 07-22-2012, 09:29 PM Never good at stats predictions but
RG3-22 TDs 13 INTs (4 of the TDs will be rushing TDs)
Leading Rusher (carries): Hightower
Leading Rusher (yards): Royster
Leading Rusher (TDs): Royster
Leading Receiver (receptions): Fred Davis/Garcon (tied)
Leading Receiver (yards): Hankerson
Leading Receiver (TDs): Hankerson
30gut 07-22-2012, 10:43 PM Passing yards because Gryphon is a rookie.
As far as the "paradigm shift," I don't see it that way as much as I am just accounting for the fact that Griff will add yards on the ground that Wrecks/Beck did not.Gotcha, I keep forgeting to factor in Griffin's rush yards.
I thought you meant 2200 from the running backs alone and then looking at your passing yards total of 2,850 yards got me thinking.
This offense has averaged 598 passing attempts the past 2 seasons.
The only way I can see Griff's passing yards total under 3,000 yards is a drastic decrease in passing attempts.
3,000 @ 7.0 YPA = 428 passing attempts which would be a 169 attempts decrease; hence my thinking paradigm shift.
If Kyle avg 598 avg. passing attempts w/ McNabb (A QB he didn't get along with) and Rex/Becks (2 QBs that can't play) then even though Griff is a rook, I can't imagine the passing attempts would drop that much.
Griffin will be the most talented QB Kyle's ever had.
And yes, I'm proly over thinking it.

To me you are not overthinking it. I'm with you - I don't see passing attempts decreasing with a Heisman winner under center. And maybe you are right and I am conservative regarding 10's passing yards. It is hard to know what a rookie will do when he has not yet taken an NFL snap in public.
REDSKINS4ever 07-23-2012, 03:58 AM The Redskins were ranked 16th in offense in the NFL last year. With the brand new additions on offense, I expect that ranking to improve greatly in 2012. Can they do any worse than we they did last year? No, they can't. But expect to see more improvement. If the Redskins can somehow, someway, move into top ten in the NFL in total offense, then expect them to be a playoff team. Let's not forget too that the defense, which is coming off a solid year in 2011, will be even more improved also.
I can see Griffin throwing for 3200-3500 yards, 18 TDs, 12 INTs, and adding another 400-600 yards on the ground and another 4-6 rushing TDs.

Using your template,
RG3 - 20 TD 11 Ints, 3 rushing TDs
Leading Rusher (yards and carries)- Royster
Leading Rushing TD- Hightower
Leading Receiver (recept and yards) - Garcon
Leading Receiver (TDs): Davis
Best O-Lineman: Silverblunt
Best Offensive Rookie not named RG3: Tom Compton

The offense was ranked 16th in total yards which is mostly based on being ranked 14th in passing yards but keep in mind they passed had the 5th most passing attempts in the NFL the other top 5 teams in passing attempts were also top 5 in passing yards.
Thus our passing attack is remarkably inefficient and non-productive.
More importantly the offense was 26th in scoring with 18 pt a game.
Off topic: the focus on yards as a metric for evaluating an offense or defense is a common misconception that leads people to think the Patroits had the worst defense in the NFL when they tied for 3rd in turnovers and 15th in points allowed.
Monkeydad 07-23-2012, 11:44 AM I'm going all out. 10-6. NFC East champs. 4-2 in the division, dropping one to the Giants and one to the Eagles...sweeping Dallas. Only the tough AFC North opponents hamper our record, but they'll beat up on all of the NFC East teams.
Lose the NFC championship after one win, back better than ever next season. 2014 SB champs in YR3 of RG3.
Griffin is ROY, Pro Bowl alternate after some starters make up injuries to get out of it. He'll outproduce Cam Newton and Michael Vick, his two most-frequent comparisons.
10 wins for #10.
Think I'm crazy? Deal with it.

I don't think you are crazy. I am tempted to make similar predictions. But I am trying not to drink too much koolaid before camp even starts. I've been burned before.
