Gmanc711 02-18-2005, 01:40 AM mike williams wont fall to 9
I dont know man; he was barley supposed to crack the top ten last year in all seriousness. I know he was mostly regarded at the #2 WR in the draft, but alot of people had him falling even under Reggie Williams at the #9. So if he was barley supposed to crack the top 10 last season, I think after a year off, he could fall under the top ten this season... just a thought.

Last years WR class was much deeper then this year though
Daseal 02-18-2005, 11:52 AM He took a year off - but last year was a really deep draft. I still think he'll be there, but last year was a great year for the top 15 picks or so!
backrow 02-18-2005, 01:49 PM DE and Oline aren't exactly friendly positions. Look at Kenechie Udeeze who a lot of people wanted last year - where'd he go? What about Will Smith? Crickets... DEnd is such a risky pick I don't so much like it. Personally I think we're fine with our D line. We're going to have to keep blitzing, but I'm assuming a restructured Wynn and a healthy Daniels comes back. Mix in Clemons/Lavar at times and with Griffen and a rotation of Salave'a and Noble and we're set at D line. We'll still blitz, but that also helps keep backs in the back field, and as long as we can replace Smoot with someone at least close, assuming he walks, then we should be okay. The only change I want on defense is slightly more turnovers. Other than that - leave it alone.
Great point! When I look at the list of UFAs and RFAs, I don't see a whole lot of possibilities. Many teams will try to resign their own. Other teams have a bag load of Cap money to spend. We might overpay for FAs, and so your point is well taken. Go with what we have. Maybe we get a guy or two like last year, maybe not. Williams seemed to be so creative. I really like the turnovers idea!

Daseal is right, for those that say rookie WR's are risky and rarely pan out early in their careers the same can be said of defensive lineman, maybe even more so.
I'd be happy with the same DL unit in 2005.

The pre-draft workouts will be huge for him. If he flashes his incredible physical talents he could easily shoot up to the top 5-7. I think regardless he goes top 10.
SKINSnCANES 02-18-2005, 02:48 PM Last years top ten had so many more elite players though. Need will play a much larger factor this year then simply selecting the best available.
And I agree, If williams speed improved at all he is EASILY top ten
offiss 02-18-2005, 03:53 PM Willaim's will be a player a GM will really have to know what he's doing, I would defiently like to see a lot more film on him to really get an idea if he's a guy who will step up and dominate in the NFL or is he just a man amoung boy's in college? I think he's just to physically imposing not to be a player who will dominate one way or the other in the NFL, this is a player who only need's 1 hand to catch the ball we have a player right now in Gardner who couldn't catch the ball with 3, William's sound's like a very good kid as well pretty much the kind of attitude in a player Gibb's want's, here's the problem Edward's will probably be gone before we draft and Williamson is the fastest WR on the board, I think William's would be fantastic for Ramsey he likes the big target's look at what he does with McCant's, but I also believe Gibb's want's the blazer to force defenses back, it will be an interesting decision.

Jets just announced that they will put the franchise tag on John Abraham. So it will take more than $$$ to get him here...
