Thanks. I think I'll have to make it down there for that day...will be my last chance for a quick trip before they move south.

The crowds will be nuts this year though!

Never been to an open practice. Are they worth going to? Fan Appreciation Day didn't offer a ton of "extras", and there will be a huge RGIII crowd, so I'm considering just going to a practice over the FAD.

Worth the trip?

Depends. I've been to both the open practices and Fan Appreciation Day (I was at the one where Joe Gibbs called Dallas fans ugly lol) and it depends what your style is. Both are essentially just watching them practice, and hoping maybe they'll sign some autographs afterward. You can't sit down unless you're on the other side of the fence where they let the "VIP"s go. It's ok but it's exactly what it sounds like, just standing there watching the Redskins practice.

I have no idea what Fan Appreciation Day's under Shanny are like. They do have things to do like take your picture with the SB trophies, let your kid get his picture taken with a Redskins manakin-like thingy that has the head cut out so your kid can stand there, etc. Gibbs set up tents where the whole team signed autographs back in the day, but I don't think they do that anymore. And the crowds can be a bitch on FAD too, I think last year there was over 30k people there, whereas during a weekday it might be like 1-5k.

I'd imagine with RG3 in the mix this year and this being their last year at Ashburn the crowds will break more records than ever this time around. If you're going to go I'd pick a weekday where there's less crowd.

I went to the first Allen/Shanahan Fan Appreciation Day, when McNabb came to town. A few cool exhibits but I've seen them already and now I already have pictures of the trophies up close, had my son's pic taken with Cooley and Portis headless statues...I don't care about autographs. They canceled the scrimmage because of heat.

My son likes the cheerleaders though.

I basically want to watch the team practice...just wondering if the regular practice is comparable to that on FAD.

I am definitely leaning towards a weekday because of the RGIII crowds.

Not for sure but I'm going to make every attempt to go.

If we ride together, you're listening to 2 hours of Glenn Beck, just a forewarning. :D

That's one way to inspire a fellow Warpather to commit suicide.
