I love curling. THAT is as action-packed as it gets.

I only like the playoffs and even then I usually only watch a very small amount of it.

as far as the 4th major sport, numbers say its nascar which is rather depressing seeing as to how quite a few people r spending hours drinking and watching cars drive in a circle really fast. I know most people go for the crashes just like most hockey fans watch for the fights but that mkaes it even worse. and ncaa football would get a nod before ncaa bb just cuz this country pretty much lives and breathes football. tennis, except when serena is playing her sister or sharapova, is pretty much a forgoten sport. and then there's golf which isn't as bad to watch as I used to believe when I was younger but like many other people I usually only watch when Tiger's on the course.
so I honestly believe no other sports/leagues besides NBA, MLB, and NFL can be considered major sports/leagues anymore at this time.

I might miss it come playoff time, but I asked some of my friends who are diehard fans and they all say they don't miss it even half as much as they thought they would.

So what do we consider the four major sports leagues now? Used to be given that you'd say NFL, NBA, MLB, and NHL. Now who's in that 4th slot? NASCAR? NCAA? PGA?

in terms of attendance wouldn't it be nascar. but i would like to think is is pga. someday i would really like to see mls make it into the fourth spot but who are we kidding.

i miss hockey...but i can certainly live without it...

with the deadline less than 30 minutes away, looks like it will stay lights out for hockey.

matty - the first i had heard of the players accepting a salary cap was monday...that had been the biggest obstacle both sides faced throughout this whole ordeal.

NASCAR will be the 4th major sport...Golf doesn't have enough of a following, and there aren't any other sports competing for major network viewing than these 2...

You're right in terms of attendance. When you look at fan base, Nascar is #2 overall..... and is about to pass the NFL within the next I belive its five years. I dont know what you want to consider the major sports, but both Golf and Nascar are ahead of hockey right now. If Golf keeps going the way it is, it will defintley compete a little bit too. Maybe they should change it to the big five lol... hockey a distant 6th.

Although I wont miss it too much I watch it sometimes. My question is who is to blame after watching Bettmans press conference I think the players are being unfair. They refused to look at the books to see how much they are losing each year. The season would of been cool this year with a 28 game schedule like they talked about. They would of played hard every game. Not that they dont already but they would of had an every game counts mentality.

In all honesty, if there was hockey, I was going to follow the hell out of it because I think a 28 game schedule would be awsome! Oh well though, the best pro hockey team is right here in ROCHESTER, NY, baby!!
