Lots of rumors that Ocho is no longer a Patriot. Not confirmed though

Left OTAs and "altered Twitter bio" whatever that counts for.

Ochocinco misses OTA, alters Twitter bio (http://www.weei.com/sports/boston/this-just-in/21205221/source-ocho-leaves-gillette-alters-twitter-bio)

He apparently wasn't doing well.

Observations - Boston.com (http://articles.boston.com/2012-05-24/sports/31840846_1_practice-report-comments-patriots)

WR Chad Ochocinco seemed to pickup where he left off. Deion Branch had to tell him where to line up at one point, and then Ochocinco went offsides and had to run a lap.

sounds like it's time for him to stop eating fast food every single day of his life

That's interesting, hadn't heard that. Just that he came in this morning and left rather quickly

Why now? Why not after the season? I would imagine there would be a better field of candidates if this was done earlier.

EDIT: Why didn't I read the article before posting? Idk, but all my questions are now answered lol.

There were some rumors a few months back that Banner was interested in being part of an ownership group. That could be part of the thinking?

He's got that kind of dough? Damn. I mean yeah he was team president for 2 decades, but enough money to be part of an ownership group? Good for him apparently. I figured the team fired him at first, I didn't expect him to be the one interested in leaving.

I've always liked CJ/Ochocinco, and thought he was a pretty good WR with decent speed and decent ability to make plays. With whats been happening to him in NE I'm left scratching my head. Is it he's just getting old? or is there more to the story? Does he just not study the play book, is he acting up like AHaynesworth to get cut from the team? What is his real problem?

That problem with #85 in New England was that he couldn't pick up the playbook. Maybe the terminology was confusing to him. But because of his not knowing the playbook, he was given limited opportunities last season in that offense. It's better for the Patriots to cut ties with him now.
