I agree that it's a state right. Though I can comprehend why any state would be against it. Call it ignorance, call it naivete but why can't a gay couple be allowed to marry? Why should so much time and energy be spent arguing against it when there are so many more serious problems (unemployment, the economy) to worry about.
Well said Smoot.

Really, why not let them just get married so they can be as miserable as the rest of us.

I was actually hoping they would pass it. In fact I want laws, at least proposed that are worse then amendment 1.
Look heres the deal. Gay marriage is a ticking time bomb that is going to go off in the near future (10 to 20 years). Sucks for the people that want to get married now and the people that need benefits but eventually it's not going to even be a fight. The younger generation is increasingly progressive and won't be stupid enough to give homophobia a leg to stand on.
I want the homophobes to keep on spitting out more and more of their hypocritical nonsense. I want soundbites galore. "Protecting marriage" while getting divorced at a rate over 50%. Being pro-life but not wanting gay couples to adopt children and give them a home.
As Romney likes to say, the 'market will correct itself.' I want it to become so ridiculous to buy into homophobia that when the time comes to strike it down it will be like taking a hot knife to butter.
Enjoy your time in the sun Amendment 1 supporters. It's almost over.

Nice find NC. Although anytime I hear someone quoting Rush, I automatically think of this (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/163/rushlovestohearrushtalk.jpg/).
Also if anyone else wants to use the Rush template here (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/716/rushtemplate.jpg/) you go.

Jon Stewart Praises President Obama, Rips North Carolina for Gay Marriage Decisions (Video) - Hollywood Reporter (http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/jon-stewart-president-obama-gay-marriage-north-carolina-322981)
Jon Stewart is hilarious. Watch this. He has the best insult ever near the end dealing with a bald head guy speaking out against gay marriage.

Well they said that in NC it would come down to a 50/50 vote and would be very close. Well it won with something like 62 or 64 % of the vote so you might be wishing for the wrong thing. I also lioke how you feel the need to call people who don't agree with gay marriage "homophobes". That's straight out of the left wing hand book. If they don't agree with you call them names.
