A friend of mine sent me a text message saying that Jonathan Vilma has been suspended for 32 regular season games including the preseason and the playoffs if the Saints qualified for the playoffs during his suspension span. That is the sternest, and hardest suspension probably in the history of pro football on a player. A lot of people don't like Roger Goddell but you can't blame him for wanting to protect professional football players and wanting to uphold the integrity of the sport.

How did he get a 32 game suspension? 5 preseason for saints I believe, 16 regular season, and 4 playoff games if they make the Super Bowl. That's 25 games at the most.

When it first came to my attention, it was said that Vilma was suspended for all of 2012 and 2013. That could be misinformation but that's what I first heard.

.....I disagree. No other commisoner has had to deal with what he is dealing with.If not for him ...thugs would be running and ruining the NFL.
No I don't agree with everything that has been done but over all I give him and A.

I'm happy with the way Goddell has handled the Saints situation. Both Sean Payton and Gregg Williams are on suspension and rightfully so. Goddell has also punished the Saints front office and several players. I hope that this bounty stuff never happens again. There was the suspension and fines on James Harrison that I felt was a bit overboard, but Roger Goddell is a decent NFL commissioner.

Not sure what you were expecting.

If you did something against rules at your job, and you turned around and told your boss you didn't care what he did and didn't show any contrite. What kind of punishment would you expect to come to you?

Had Vilma apologized, and made a half ass attempt to show he was contrite, he probably wouldn't have been slapped with a year long suspension.

As it is, he did not and chose to roll with the arrogant smart ass route and it cost him big time. Next time he'll know what not to do.
