I made some minor tweaks to the board today to see if it helps the server busy messages.
As an administrator I'm not shown the server busy messages, so I can't tell when it's a problem. How often do you guys get these messages? On a daily basis?
I get them much less often now than I did. There was a two or three week period in the middle of the season where it was a daily issue and I could almost never get on. Now I'd say I run into to it once or twice a week and usually hitting refresh a couple times resolves it.
One note...the issue is clearly not with the warpath. During the worst times once I could finally get on there'd be like 5 people on the board so there's no way it was the warpath causing the problem. I have tried to see if there is any discernable pattern to when the problems arise but haven't noticed any. I guess there is some site sharing the server that justs kicks the server's ass.
I was getting it when I tried to post that last post. It's intermittent. Can happen anytime.
Does it happen to you every time you visit the board?

Yeah it's definitely not our problem, that's the problem with being on a shared server. Some other site could be hogging some major resouces and the rest of us have to pay.
I've got a few servers in mind and I'm going to really get cracking on moving the site in the next few weeks. If anybody has any servers they want to suggest feel free to let me know. I'm looking at virtual dedicated servers, trying to keep the price at $15 a month or less.

Now that I think about it...it is better than it used to be but I still see one just about every day. Like I said though refreshing a couple times fixes it. Back during the worst times you could hit refresh 1000 times and it wouldn't work. I actually wrote an html page that opened up 2000 iframes pointing to the warpath and not one of them got in. Amazing at at the time.
Over the course of the next week or so if you guys could try to monitor if you see less server busy messages and let me know that would be great. I made a few minor tweaks that might help.
Another thing that can help is to clear out your private messages regularly. I highly suggest doing that, it just takes a second and it might help a bit.

I mentioned this the other day in the Parking Lot area. I think we need to create a politics only area. I know we have the link to the other politics site but some people still like to post political stuff in there. Personally I don't come to the warpath to get in arguments and everytime I see some of the stuff it pisses me off. I say we try and weed out the political stuff if possible.I would say eliminate all political threads, post, and debates. This is Redskins football somthing that we all have in common and can have a good dialogue and sharring of ideas. One of the first times I was on the as a member I ran accross politics and got pissed at the person for bringing up politics in this forum. Then I was informed of what the parking lot area was for. If I had singed off that day without being informed I probably would have never signed on again. I vote skins talk. Oh, and I could us that spell check to.
I'm against eliminating all talk about politics only because where do we draw the line?
After all, we do have an off-topic discussion forum, should we eliminate all non-skins talk too?
I'm thinking of creating a seperate politics forum though. What should we call it?

Yeah I don't think we eliminate anything...just make a politics area...if people don't want to hear aboutthat kind of stuff then they don't have to go in there. I'm all for free speech. I don't want Big Brother Matty looking over my shoulder.
