Raheem Morris had a lot to do with Tanard Jackson signing with the Redskins. The safety position is one that has been aggressively improved upon this offseason. I like the acquisitions of Madieu Williams, Cedric Griffin, and Jackson.

I see us drafting a CB and Safety regardless.
I love the depth...no doubt...but are any of these guys long term starters?...hard to say
Oline and ILB look like priorities to me in the draft....
I wouldn't be suprised if we used our 3 or 4th on a RB to take pressure off of RGIII

Aggressively improved is a bit of an overstatement, I think. But, I'm happy with what they've been able to accomplish this offseason.

I'm okay with having Tanard Jackson and Madieu Williams as safeties on the roster. But Brandon Meriweather concerns me a little. It wouldn't surprise me if Jackson and Williams are both the starting safeties and Meriweather is coming off the bench in certain situations. In fact, I'd prefer it that way.

I'd say that every DB will be a situational player. Jackson, Williams, and Meriweather have all been liabilities in recent years. There is a reason why we got them so cheep. That being said I'm happy they are all on our team. I wouldn't trust any of them as individuals to play regularly, but they are all talented enough to be able to positively contribute in some way to our team. We just need to figure out who can do what and situationally make them a strong unit as a whole.

Something tells me Gomes will step his game up this year. Last year he looked a little lost out there at times as a rookie. I have a feeling that he will be one of the most valuable players on defense. With Meriweather, Williams, and Jackson playing safety, Gomes will have stiff competition in training camp/preseason.

Again makes no sense. Go out of your way to provide competition at Receiver, Safety, Backup QB, etc. But when it comes to the line suddenly you're a government employee.

Yah we can get two out of the new editions plus the current crop already on the team. Good depth, and it also provides us the opportunity to not draft a S.
I could see a CB or even two, but they may still have a plan to add another vet through trade or sign.
I think this should be an interesting draft for the Skins, and I am interested to see where we go with our picks. Do they take a BPA approach through out the draft or do they go need? My hope is that need finds a BPA or four at the positions we need.
*BTW BPA refers to the best player available at the draft position not the ten best guys.... ;)

Jackson is an upgrade at safety over what was on the roster - - after Landry and Otogwe were set adrift. In fact, he is probably an upgrade over Landry and Otogwe.
Of course, injuries are always a factor no matter who a team signs or drafts. But Tanard Jackson's talent makes him worth the gamble that he can stay healthy - - and sober.
Presumably, the Skins' braintrust did their due diligence. If they did not, someone's head should roll...
I got a feeling that Jackson (provided he doesn't get high) and Merriweather will be a better tandem than we had last year. I really like what they did here. Jackson is a good player, and I agree he is better than the two we had.
Sadly I do see Doughty gone, but we have depth and talent there now.
They can pass on drafty a S this year and grab a couple UDFA S and stash them on the practice squad while they develop.
