I understand, but I would look to draft a FS next year, not this year; The FS/SS draft class this year is mediocre, which is why we've signed Meriweather, Jackson, and Williams all to 1 year deals, thinking we can draft a FS next year. With these signings, I just don't see us drafting a FS in this year's draft.

maybe not with our 3rd round pick, but i can see us for sure pickup up a safety at some point.

Grew up in Lanham, went to Maryland

Nice. I grew up Lanham, and lived close to Duval. Tough area, near Bowie. Growing up, our next door neighbors robbed us, drug deals on the block, friend saw someone shot in the parking lot, etc. But, honestly had fun growing up there. Good to see Lanham come out in TJ with the substance abuse charges last year, but I'm hoping he's cleaned up since then.

I always wonder why all these players sign with us when they know there's stiff competition for the job. Seems like if you're going to be the 4-6th safety, you would sign with another team to increase your chances. Same thing happened last two years with RB/WRs. Well, good for our front office, bad for the players. Good job Shanny for making this happen.

Jackson is an upgrade at safety over what was on the roster - - after Landry and Otogwe were set adrift. In fact, he is probably an upgrade over Landry and Otogwe.

Of course, injuries are always a factor no matter who a team signs or drafts. But Tanard Jackson's talent makes him worth the gamble that he can stay healthy - - and sober.

Presumably, the Skins' braintrust did their due diligence. If they did not, someone's head should roll...

This is the best possible off-season anyone could have realistically hoped for. We are getting RGIII. I don't care the costs, great trade! We added Garcon who has the talent/speed to be a #1 receiver. Morgan is young and explosive too and still has high upside. Added James Lee for tackle depth. Got Griffin, Merriweather, Williams, Jackson and Torrance for secondary depth. None are great players, but you will never have great players at every position, but we will have nice depth. I would like to see Gomes be a starter but Merriweather and Jackson as starters with Gomes and Williams as depth is SOLID. Don't see Doughty staying on the team, kinda sad, I love lunch pale Skins. Maybe he can become an all special teams type guy. The draft is going to be interesting. I don't have any preference for how we draft, except for I would like one of the 4th round choices to be used on the O-Line. This season is gonna costs me a lot of money because I will not be missing a game and don't have DirecTV. Bars are gonna make a killing off me.

Agreed, great offseason and very smart moves so far. Btw, sign of smart moves / front office - Torrence / Golston / Williams cost only $400k (http://www.csnwashington.com/football-washington-redskins/redskins-talk/Redskins-signings-have-minimal-cap-impac?blockID=688434&feedID=6355).

But I'd still argue that the "best off-season" could have been this - and another $18 million dollars.
