Very often when a group of people are involved in some sort of underhanded behavior that involves joint actions by the members of the group - - in legalese, that is a conspiracy - - the group tends to come apart once an investigation begins. Members of the group begin to look out for self-interest and not group-interest. In this case, hanging all of this around Gregg Williams' neck was the "cut-and-run" strategy in the group.
It did not work - obviously - but it did succeed in one aspect. It showed Gregg Williams just how much cover others in his profession would afford him when the chips were down. Now, if Williams ever wants to have his suspension lifted, he needs to cooperate with the NFL in other investigations.
Translation: Williams needs to spill what he knows about what goes on/went on eslewhere.
Sean Payton, Mickey Loomis and Joe Vitt gave Williams reason to look out for his self-interest only when Commish Goodell comes to talk to talk to him the next time.

Oh where the Saints go 6 and 10...
LOL.
It's tough to tell to be honest. I feel that their offense will be pretty much run by Brees. Spags is new to the defense, and I am sure they are going to lose players, so that unit may take a hit. I'll be curious to see how the rest of the NFC South fares. I think the Panthers needed to make some improvements, but they haven't done much. The Falcons have the potential to improve and who knows how the Bucs are going to do with all of their new FA acquisitions.

10 -12 wins. Last I checked they still have Brees, Graham, Sproles, Colston....plus I expect Ingram to play a larger role. They're still going to put up a lot of points.

Good to see Goodell gets to handle the initial judgement AND the appeals. No conflict of interest there.

Does this mean they can focus on the Skins cap penalties NOW.
