Dirtbag59 04-10-2012, 12:11 AM Brown using Yoga to rehab is fine by me. If he was healthy and doing it as his core offsesason workout program it would be a different story but to rehab from an injury, don't really see the problem. It's really nothing more than stretching to improve flexibility.
imaskin4life 04-10-2012, 02:14 AM When I assess our team's needs, I think we are actually weaker in secondary right now than OL. However our OL needs are more URGENT due to the fact that we are bringing in a rookie QB. Our priority should be OL.
IMO the only reason to prioritize OL is because we are bringing in RG3. I would not be thinking this way if we weren't bringing in a rookie qb. For instance in 2010 when we also had a need at both OL and S, I personally would have selected S Eric Berry over T Trent Williams at #4 and focused on T later. In fact I still cringe when I think about us passing on Berry to select Williams at 4.
Now that we are bringing in a franchise rookie qb, that pick in 2010 should begin to make more sense to me -- I am of course assuming that he can stay off the trees :pimp:
skinster 04-10-2012, 03:36 AM I'm no scout, but I saw Williams get beat way more than I'd like a number 4 pick to, and I saw Brown get manhandled all year. The interior is harder for me to judge, but I didn't see any gaping holes. Williams is a solid left tackle. Brown is a servicable right tackle. No idea about the interior, but I assume they are all less than mediocre. The zone blocking scheme shouldn't make it too hard to open up holes considering you sheild off an area as opposed to manhandling your guy.
REDSKINS4ever 04-10-2012, 04:04 AM Trent Williams has been inconsistent his first two years. He truthfully hasn't filled the void left by Chris Samuels. What Williams has been is average at times and bad at times. In my opinion, he has never been good as a pro. Maybe 2012 is the year he plays like Joe Jacoby. Williams definitetly has trouble against Jason Pierre Paul. He does have the potential to play at a all pro level though. He just hasn't done it.

So pretty much shutting down demarcus ware every meeting isn't good? How can u guys say he's bad? I don't get it, is it the weed that people fall back on with Trent? He's a top 10 left tackle in the NFL folks period
As for JPP? Who doesn't have trouble with him?

I also remember Williams having a bad ankle/ knee inj early in the season not to mention we lost our LG and TE early . I still hope we draft 2 linemen this month .....

My post was not intended to bash Trent Williams. He is not a bad tackle. I think he did about as good as a 22/23 year old tackle can do with his assignments. He is definitely our best offensive lineman and I anticipate him being better this year since he is a year older -- he should be wiser and significantly stronger. I definitely like his passion.
All I was saying was that with that #4 overall pick in 2010 I personally would have selected Eric Berry at Safety over Trent Williams at Tackle. Eric Berry is better at his position than Trent Williams is at his position.
My original point was that our priority should be on the OL, regardless of the fact that we are weaker in the secondary right now, because we are bringing in a franchise rookie QB. Up to now, I have not been at peace with selecting Williams over Berry but now that RG3 is coming, I can begin to heal after watching us pass on Eric Berry to bring in Williams because Williams' role is even MORE important than before.
If, however, a rookie franchise qb was not on his way here then I would still be struggling with our decision to take Williams over Berry.

I gotcha lol I was js the guy isn't bad like some say he is
ethat001 04-10-2012, 10:16 PM Personally so GLAD we didn't get Berry. Sure, he's a talent but -- we've had top-tier safeties for a while, would NOT want us to draft 3 safeties in the top 10 within 8 years. I'll give TW some more time before judgement. Just stepped into the zoneblocking scheme, and only had one full season in it. Holding his own with elite pass rushers, still early in his career.
But TW was DEFINITELY worth the pick -- here's why: the way I look at it, you can draft any position anywhere in the draft, but you are MUCH more likely to need to be drafting top 10 when you're looking for specific positions: QB, LT, and DE/pass rushing LB, DT and corner/WR. These elite positions also are hard to fill with elite talent in FA, because most ppl don't give up a franchise talent at these positions. The great news is we have most of the above key positions filled with young and good players (except an elite NT and shut-down corner - hopefully we get something next year or in FA).
My point is -- if our dreams come true and RG3 consistently gets us a winning record, in 1-2 years we'll be drafting 10-20+ and won't be able pick in the top 10 for the next 10-15 years. It's a great thing to have the top positions above locked down with talent as we proceed, and LT and QB are arguably the two most important ones. You can usually find top level WR's in FA, second level LB/NT/corners/RB/etc in FA. In the draft, O-line positions can be found in later rounds (esp in zone blocking schemes).
Anyway, I think we were lucky to get a good (if not elite) LT when we needed one, and it could help our franchise for the next decade. (only if marijuana is legalized, of course...)
