Just a thought:

Stop idolizing athletes above their contribution to the sport. If they contribute to charities, great, enjoy the tax write-off. Then get back on the field. Fans will cheer you when you rock the B&G then forget you when you start to fade or demand you be cut (ex: Clinton Portis, Doug Williams, etc.)

I'm a grown man. No need for heroes....or autographs.

Well said and good post.

Back to the NFL.

Darrelle Revis won't guarantee he'll be at New York Jets' camp - ESPN New York (http://espn.go.com/new-york/nfl/story/_/id/7993415/darrelle-revis-guarantee-new-york-jets-camp)

Why is this assclown still griping about his contract? He got a huge front loaded contract, and now doesn't want to honor the back portion of it. Eff this guy. So glad we don't have clowns like this on our squad anymore.

They should let him rot and fine him each day he misses mandatory practice and refuse to do anything until his contract is over. THEN, I would franchise tag him just to piss him off even more.

I'm normally in favor of players holding out when they've outplayed their contracts, but guys like this I have no sympathy for.

Yup I agree with you but what hurts for me about DG was he was a boy hood hero of mine and to find out he is a dick was kind of disheartening.

It sounds great in theory to not idolize these guys, but it's part of the deal. While it doesn't change my appreciation for what he did on the field, I agree it's disheartening to hear stories of how he treats people off the field.

He's still one of my favorite players of all time.

I still remember watching those "NFL's Fastest Man" races and cheering for him to dust Tim Brown and James Jett. It was like watching MJ vs. Dominique Wilkins in a slam dunk contest, with Darrell being Jordan and winning every year.

Another reason why I root for burgundy and gold and not Tom, Dick or Harry.

To me it would be one thing if all he did was be an ass to people, but as you know it's deeper than that

No link yet but Osi has fired his agent and reworked his contract with the Giants.
