I love my Redskins.....but D.G. is a D-bag away from the cameras. My old roomate saw him a while back at a sporting event....cant remember which one.......while wearing Greens jersey....asked for an autograph and was greeted with a rude comment and a turned back.

man i hate to hear things like that...thats pretty bad

Not sure why you are dishing on DG. From everything I know about him, he is one of the classiest human beings off the football field.

Why? Because he does a charity and gives and raises money for said charity? Dan Snyder gives money to charity and we know what kind of douche bag he is. I have heard nothing but bad things about DG from the people that have met him in public. Not a single story that didn't end up with him being a douche in some form or fashion.

Also, apparently you missed the Smootsmack DG stories, but I enjoy when he gives stories about how some Redskins acted during their careers. I especially liked his gem about Albert Connell...lol

Sucks to hear. I hate it when I hear stuff like this from fans that have envisioned this icon growing up as this super awesome guy, who played his heart out and gave back to the community, only to meet him and find out he's a huge douche bag and his entire career was for his self glory. It has to be heart breaking almost.

I've heard nothing but bad things about Darrell Green in terms of his dealings with the fans. Its never fun to hear that your childhood favorites (or just generally favorite, if you're not as young as me) are a-holes to their fans.

But speaking of childhood, does anyone know if Green was any better with his younger fans or is it just the adults he treats like garbage?

i believe someone asked him for an autograph for his 9 year old when he did something at CSN and he said "what's in it for me?"

so yay on that.

don't meet your idols, you're be disappointed.

Back in the early 90s when I was around 11-12, my cousin & I recognized him at Busch Gardens in Williamsburg.

We went to say,"hi" & he completely ignored us. His wife came over to us and kind of guided us away from him.

She talked to us about him being with his family and that they didn't want to draw any attention to him.

We asked if she could just get him to sign our maps... she went over and came back with autographs.

Could have been A LOT more friendly but I could understand on that day why they would not want to be constantly hounded for pics & autographs... but... he the way he ignored us always has stuck in my memory.

that's a bit surprising, a thought he was supposed to be pretty nice/friendly and all that.

What Smoot is trying to say is that if he could be stuck on a island with 3 people, it would be Darrell Green, Albert Connell, and Kurt Busch. :cheeky-sm :laughing-
