Interesting stuff from Jose regardless of what you may think of him. I do think he is a buffoon, but given what we know about roids in baseball now, his accusations cannot be dismissed so easily.

I was waiting for someone to post this. I can't believe he's calling out all of these players.

He must be desperate for some cash.....

He may be desperate for cash, but I don't find it hard to believe he, McGwire and Giambi were doing roids together. Mark's a good guy, but he may have been on roids just like some other players.

I totally agree. You'd have to be really stupid to think that McGwire never did any steroids. Did you see how he blew up? Same thing w/ Giambi, Bonds, and Sosa....

He also said that he introduced Rafael Palmeiro to roids. What exactly he means by "introduced" I don't know but Raffy doesn't look at all like he takes steroids

He just has a sweet sing, but he's not built like a truck or anything like that

most of what he says makes u have to consider the source but some of it does ring of some truth. anyone believing steriods weren't in the mlb during the 80's is living in denial.
I mean some of the guys he mention while somewhat built look nothing like the main suspects of doping, but I doubt seriously any of us will know how did what unless each person got offered a book deal or an interview offer with oprah or bawbwa walters.

Canseco is deeply misguided calling out these players in my opinion, and you have no idea how much if any of what he says is true. It's not his place to write a book like this. For a counteropinion and different view from people close to McGwire:

“I’m so pissed off at him. First of all, I think he needs the money. Secondly, I think he’s jealous as hell.”
- Tony La Russa, former A's manager and current mgr of StL. Cardinals

“The guy was poison. … He was one disturbance after another, and this book is typical Jose.” - Dave Stewart, former A's great

“It was frustrating that 24 guys marched to the same beat and Jose didn’t.” - Terry Steinbach, all star A's catcher

listening to the sports reporters on 980 yesterday, Kornheiser compared this to Maurice Clarett...you want to doubt him, but then Andy Geiger leaves, and all hell breaks loose.

McGwire has been on record saying he used legal (at the time) supplements to get "big"...however, i wouldn't put it past Canseco to out anyone to make a buck...

those 3 quotes above posted by shane shows that he could be seriously talking out his ass, and that since it cannot be proven, he can pretty much say what he wants, create controversy and make money off his former teammates and friends.

How about the shocker that he never actually slept with Madonna, just made out with her on the couch?!

And it's not like Canseco is just saying that steroids was prevalent, he seems to want to take responsibility for introducing baseball to steroids. Like he wants to leave his mark on the sport in whatever way he can, so he's saying that thanks to him basically baseball is where it is now.

Doesn't Jose have some sort of axe to grind with MLB?

You really have to wonder what his motivations are, is it just money or more than that?
