Trayvon Martin Case

Ultimately it doesn't matter how anyone "looked". At the same time, if you can't see the media spin and how they came out full bore on the race issue in this matter, I think you're denying some other realities. The photos chosen were clearly done with the intent of maximizing sympathy for Martin and for demonizing Zimmerman.

From the initial characterization of Zimmerman as white (modified to White Hispanic - a term I have never seen before and doubt I will ever see again), the choice of photographs, the editing of the 911 tape, it is clear the media had an agenda. It was an agenda that served no one well - but it sure sold a lot of papers and air time.

Seems like the story has pretty much fizzled except in Sanford where it sounds like they're one crime away from a race riot.

Feels almost like Troy Davis v.2.0

Does it really matter how he looked? Is the life of someone who dresses like a hood rat worth more than someone who dresses like a tender naive shelter child?

A life lost is a life lost.

I'm far more concerned about what actually happened than how this kid looked at the time of death.

I think you misinterpreted what I said. I'm saying the media is painting this image of

when in reality it was most likely closer to this....

See, had that first guy walked through the same neighborhood, I can assure you Zimmerman doesn't profile him nor would he follow him. The second guy definitely would send flags up to any neighborhood where the tenants aren't dressed as such. They are wanting to paint this image of a kid who had no reason to be profiled (which is probably not the true) and was merely shot because he was black.

That isn't the case. The truth of it is Trayvon was profiled because of his attire, and was shot because the guy following him was a overzealous asshole that took the law into his own hands even though he was told to back off.

Just report the news and stop with the agendas. Especially ones that could send a community into a race riot.

George Zimmerman attorneys quit as counsel | The Lookout - Yahoo! News (http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/lookout/george-zimmerman-attorney-hold-press-conference-4-30pm-203437097.html)

Some good points made here.

Going after the press directly, Uhrig said, "If you don't believe this has been crouched in racial terms, you're not watching the same media, the same TV, reading the same blogs." In an unfortunate choice of words, Uhrig added, "I'm taking a shot at the press when I say this.

"People are saying, how can you shoot an unarmed man? You know what, an unarmed man can kill you if he keeps doing what he's doing," Uhrig said. "I don't care what one investigator thought. They're often wrong."

Police Car Shot Up in Trayvon Martin's Neighborhood - Yahoo! (http://gma.yahoo.com/police-car-shot-trayvon-martins-neighborhood-184110824--abc-news-topstories.html)

I absolutely detest the public media and how they've covered this case. They continue to make Trayvon's appearance as it was years ago, and not the Trayvon that was current. It's obvious to what they are doing and it's a shame a man could be convicted just off of public cries due to the influence they get from the media.

If the DA has enough evidence to counter Zimmerman's story, then by all means they need to proceed with a trial and arrest. From the sounds of it, this seems like a DA bending to public cries much like the Duke Lacrosse rape scandal. We all saw how that turned out.

I couldn't agree more. It is sad a person died, either way. But this is what I have been saying all along. They show a picture of a 12 year old kid to drub up sympathy and tug at your heartstrings. If they would have showed the real Trayvon as he looked today and as many people have already seen, i doubt there would be much sympathy, if any...

Are they arresting him because they have evidence, or they just arresting him to appease the public and pushing for a guilty verdict regardless of evidence? Not sure I understand how there wasn't evidence prior, but not magically there is?

^^ Again, I think a lot of this is driven by the Self-Defense immunity law (not the Stand Your Ground law). Perhaps they have gathered more evidence that is, as of yet, unknown to the public.

I want to know where this guy is going to get a jury of people who have not already reached a conclusion in the matter.
