I was doing a little research for my 2013 calendar and themes. I looked at this page and was surprised to learn Monte Coleman is not listed in the Redskins Ring of Fame.
Redskins.com | Ring of Fame (http://www.redskins.com/team/history/ring-of-fame.html)
At the time of his retirement, he had played in more games than any other Redskin (Darrell Green surpassed his record). He is the only defensive player to play in all three Super Bowl victories.
Am I the only one to find this a little surprising?

they figured they honored him enough when they briefly and unofficially retired his number

His number 51 has not been retired, or at least wasn't immediately when he retired in 1994.
Clifton Smith (LB) wore #51 in 2003.
March Fischer (C) wore it in 2000.
James Francis (LB) wore it in 1999.
Antwuane Ponds (LB) wore it in 1998.
Could it have been retired sometime after 2003?

The only number the Redskins have officially retired is 33 Sammy Baugh.
I was at Bobby Mitchell's house a few weeks back and he had article framed on his wall that stated the Redskins had retired his number. I guess it wasn't official when a new regime came in.

As to Monte, yeah, that is surprising. He was a constant force in the passing game. Solid in coverage or as a blitzer.
As to retired numbers, I wish they would officially retire 44 & 81. I know they aren't used, but I like the thought of 44 and 81 being officially out of circulation. Given his relationship with the current ownership, I can't see 44 being officially retired as long as DS is the owner.
