I think it is the "other way" around as we started in 1932 and BC started in 1892.

I think you are correct. Plus let's not forget that back (wayyyy back in the days) college football was a bigger deal than pro football.

That picture is beyond cool. be great to have that framed in a man cave or my computer room. Love the dog in front

Cool story about the dog. He belonged to Turk Edwards (No. 17) and his name was "Brick". He was considered a good luck charm b/c of something that happened in the first game of the Championship Season.

Before their first game (home against the Giants), Brick got into the [Redskins] locker room and stole the pants of back-up tail back, Max Krause (No. 25), from his locker while the players were getting ready for the game. Krause (who didn't particularly like the dog) tried to get his pants back. Brick growled at Krause, lunged at him and then chased Krause around the locker room (Imagine a football locker room in the 30's and you can imagine just how amused the rest of the team was by this). Edwards eventually got Brick under control and much laughter ensued. At game time, Krause had to wear the torn pants because, back in the day, George Preston Marshall didn't splurge for extras.

Krause had played for the Giants for the previous four years and was a pretty run of the mill player. Well, on the first play of the game Cliff Battle loses his shoe and comes out to fix it. Krause goes in and breaks a long run, going 65 yards for a touchdown (his only one of the year it turns out). As Krause is running down the sideline, Battle shouts out "Hey look, Maxie thinks Brick is still chasing him!" - cementing the team's adoption of Brick as the mascot for the year. From then on, Brick went on every road trip and got into every locker room. No one knows, however, if Krause got new pants.

1893 actually. Here's the original roster from 1893 and they're clearly wearing black and white uniforms here. ;)

Helmet shots from the producer, HGI. If you go back to the gold Jags helmet in the beginning of the thread, it's the same company. They also designed the Seahawk's new helmets, those REALLY shiny gold helmets that Notre Dame wore last season along with Oregon's carbon fiber and those crazy mirrored black chrome for the Bowl game and Ohio State's camouflage helmets.

The Boston College Eagles football team represents Boston College (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boston_College) in the sport of American football (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_football). The Eagles compete in the Football Bowl Subdivision (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Division_I_%28NCAA%29#Division_I-Bowl_Subdivision) (FBS) of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Collegiate_Athletic_Association) (NCAA) and the Atlantic Division (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atlantic_Coast_Conference#Divisions) of the Atlantic Coast Conference (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atlantic_Coast_Conference) (ACC). Begun in 1892, Boston College's football team was one of six "Major College" football programs in New England (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_England) as designated by NCAA classifications, starting in 1938.[1] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boston_College_Eagles_football#cite_note-0) By 1981, and for the remainder of the twentieth century, BC was New England's sole Division I-A program.[2] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boston_College_Eagles_football#cite_note-1) It has amassed a 624–444–37 record and is 99–54–0 since the turn of the 21st century.

That picture is 1893 but the team started in 1892, I had season tickets that year I should know.

Whether you like the alternate uni or not I think everyone has to agree it could have been worse and thankfully not as bad as say the Steelers. So because of that I like them. Yes the helmet is different but the alternate uni is supposed to be from a time in which they used leather helmets and they were brown so this is just meant to give respect to those times.

However I'd love for them to keep the pants. Thats the Gold I'm looking for, not the yellow we have now, and I like the darker burgundy vs. the lighter burgundy we use now.

I understand people don't want to look like some other team. Some just dispise BC or FSU, thats ok. So since we are not going to be able to get everyone to decide on the team actually using the colors they started with or colors according to their team colors are supposed to be then to satisfy the fans who hate and dispise change....

I'll settle for DS making a public announcement that he is changing the team colors to Indian Red and Yellow. Then no one can argue that the team is not wearing their team colors, and those fans who hate change can be happy they get to keep their non BC/FSU, original colors.

for those bitching about the color scheme and its similarity to BC and FSU...what do you want?

They'd prefer to look like Southern California (Trojans), or Arisona State, Central Michigan University, Ferris State University, University of Minnesota.

List of College Colors (http://www.caninejournal.com/college-colors)

Personally I prefer the metalic gold and dark burgundy. Teams that use these similar colors are:

BC
FSU
Texas State University
Bridgwater College
