Profile pics on postings..?

I too think we should have new avatars, if its not too hard. I do think somthing should be ranked though.

I like personal avatars where folks can pick one of many provided and also upload their own custom avatar if they would like. We do that at our Sports Pools Forum place and folks love them and even change them to fit their mood. I had a great Skins Helmet I used most of the time but would change to a guy with a bag over his head at times too. hahahaha

As for Rankings we use Full Glasses of Beer!

I like the pictures based on ranking. Perhaps just having different pics to choose at each level would add a new flavor to it. It helps me find where i had my last post konwing what picture is on the side, this would be futher simplified if i had a unique picture.

What are teh different ranks, other than practice squad, rookie and administrator.

The ranking system is fun but not that important to me (as you took my Pro Bowl status away, you mean bugger) so I don't care. If you just had a colored dot at the bottom of the avatar to show amounts of postings that would work for me. I'll be back up to 100+ a day once training camp gets under way.

I am pretty sure the software used here as many different options for ranking items and such. My partner on our site does all of that stuff and though he is a Steeler Fan he would help this site with any needs.

I think simply for bandwidth we should keep the ranking system like we had before. All of those avatars go into your browser cache so they aren't forced to be downloaded by your browser over and over again. If people are constantly uploading new avatars to the site (If I understand how that works correctly, and not that they just link to their site, which is what should be done) that will slow the load time down significantly for 56K folks, and it will also make the site eat up bandwidth much faster. Bandwidth is not cheap, and a few months the site ran out before the end of the month without all the fancy images. Personally I like the old style, but it's Matty's choice!

Maybe give special avatars to distinguished posters that aren't admins. Like CrazyCanuck should have a calculator, etc! I think all avatars/titles/etc should be in the hands of the admin's though!
