Now that VJAX is gone, San Diego could feature Royal more, plus he's used to playing in the division. Norv, Rivers, Gates, etc.

exactly and its san diego not washington dc; better weather

Ted Ginn Jr?... If Royal doesn't sign

Royal 2011: 19 rec 155 yds 1 td 8.6 ypc
Ginn 2011: 19 rec 220 yds 11.6 ypc

Royal and Ginn Jr had the same amount of receptions; but Ginn was able to gain close to 12 yds per catch, and was also a better Punt Returner:
(38 Returns, 466 yds, 12.3 average, 1 TD, 9 20+ yrd returns, and 3 returns over 40 yds.) Compared to Royal's (12 Ret, 194 yds, 16.2, 1TD, only 20+ yrd returns and just 1 return over 40.)

2011 KR's

Ginn: 29 Ret, 800 yds, 27.6 avg, 102T, 1 TD

Royal : 3 Returns, 47 yds, 15.7 avg, longest return just 20 yds, 0 TD's

Conclusion: Though Shanahan may like Royal because he was a Shanahan pick, Royal is inconsistent, and not the "best" "return, slot specialist" people are making him out to be. Compared to Royal, Ginn has been statistically better in almost every WR and return category, and what stood out about Ginn was his KR avg of 27.5 yds in 2011, where kicks moved up 5 yds, equating to more touchbacks. If we should sign another WR, it should be Ginn not Royal.

Fact is royal still had 91 catches for 980 yards as a rookie for Shanny. ginn has ever come close to that

Isn't Cutler openly campaigning for Royal?

Same can be said for any reciever that Peyton Manning threw to.

Precisely. And Steelers turned over WRs and won a second.

Yes but he'd be competing with Hester, Knox, Bennet, Sanzanbacher, Roy Williams (he'll be cut), and of course BMarshall
