SBXVII 03-13-2012, 09:24 PM So we bring in 3 decent WR's and two of them are home town hero's. Josh Morgan- HD Woodson H.S., DC. VT Hokie (played the same time Eddie Royal did) Pierre Garcon- West Palm Beach FL. College in Vermont. Eddie Royal- South Lakes H.S./West Field H.S., VA. VT Hokie 2 home town hero's/ VT Hokie's. :) vallin21 03-13-2012, 09:26 PM Pierre Garcon, Eddie Royal, and Josh Morgan are all young WR's that can stretch the field, which IMO is what we've lacked for years... And, anyone who thinks/says Gaffney, our only true possession WR, should be axed, especially with him coming off having his best yr, is INSANE. SBXVII 03-13-2012, 09:26 PM We have the FO to do it. Danny won't back down, Shanahan's got a strong backbone too, and don't underestimate George Allen's son. The problem is... doesn't the League have to agree with the contracts? and if the Skins are over couldn't the League say "Nope, not gunna agree to specific contract until you get below the CAP"? When is the date the team has to be below the CAP? if they are over. Ruhskins 03-13-2012, 09:26 PM I think people need to realize that there are 10 teams after Winston. Given that we can't cut J. Brown, I don't know if we will go hard after him. Also, with a running game and all of these burners at WRs, and an accurate passer, our o-line as it is may look better. SmootSmack 03-13-2012, 09:27 PM a point someone made earlier is still sticking with me. Marques Colston signed a smaller deal to stay in New Orleans, and was considered the best or second best WR on the market. Pierre was the third best and got a bigger offer. Thats either bad negotiating by us or Marques knows he's not that good without brees. somethings off here.. Well because the Saints didn't let Colston hit the open market. In an open market, he would get more SBXVII 03-13-2012, 09:29 PM I was busy for most of the day, can someone explain to me what our cap situation is at currently? No one really knows. The NFL took 18 mill. Which should have left us with like 15 to 20 mill I'd guess. Then go up a couple of posts and you'll see the break down for Garcon alone which is like 13 mill this year. Then there is the Carriker deal, Josh Morgan deal, Eddie Royal deal..... each about 2 mill a year. redskins5044 03-13-2012, 09:31 PM Pierre Garcon, Eddie Royal, and Josh Morgan are all young WR's that can stretch the field, which IMO is what we've lacked for years... And, anyone who thinks/says Gaffney, our only true possession WR, should be axed, especially with him coming off having his best yr, is INSANE. Niles Paul and Hankerson can be possession WR's and the TE's are possession guys too, so if they wanted to release him they have guys to fill that role. --- I am here: http://tapatalk.com/map.php?xrkcvr SirClintonPortis 03-13-2012, 09:32 PM Well because the Saints didn't let Colston hit the open market. The only difference from a typical auction in this case is that the player can choose which bid to accept. And, anyone who thinks/says Gaffney, our only true possession WR, should be axed, especially with him coming off having his best yr, is INSANE. I don't see how Gaffney having his best year is comparable to Moss putting up 3 years of 1000+ yards and 1 year only a few yards shy of 1000. I feel the only reason Moss didn't break out this year as well is him being injured and playing QB carousel during the year. It's like saying, "why did Fred Davis do so much better than Chris Cooley. We need to get rid of him." Either way it's never a good sign when you're trying to decide which old guy is better than the other. Personally I don't think either of them have too much longer to put up big numbers. |
