No surprise on Gaffney. Had mentioned it a couple of times before. Don't know what, if anything, we could get for him though

I don't think he'd command much on the market. Shame if we don't keep him though. I don't see this as good news for Banks. I think he's gone no matter what.

Yeah, I'd totally be good with Banks walking.

I just don't see the Redskins waiving Gaffney. I mean, they very well could. But the guy is a veteran WR and was the most productive wide out from last season. I'm looking for huge things from Pierre Garcon and Leonard Hankerson. Niles Paul didn't figure into the team's passing game that much last season, but maybe Paul will have a lot more passes thrown his way this year. Moss isn't going anywhere. He's the Redskins slot receiver and will be called upon to start of Garcon or Hankerson gets injured. Josh Morgan will definitely be in the mix. Brandon Banks, the Redskins could probably live without. Anthony Armstrong could very well make the team for a third straight season, but Terrence Austin could beat him out for a roster spot. Banks, I agree could be waived. But if he blasts his way for a TD on a punt or kick off return during preseason, look for him to stay put.

Patriots are (were?) eager to bring Gaffney back. Though they'll probably just wait to see if he's cut.

Would be kind of funny to see Stallworth and Gaffney back in NE

I've kinda thought we'd either have Moss or Gaffney this year, not both.

Maybe the Eagles can tell us how they convinced the Pats to give them a fifth rounder for Greg Lewis, so we can ask for a 4th or 5th rounder for Gaffney. Lewis was 30 at the time and did not have anywhere near the productivity that Gaffney had last season.

Patriots acquire WR Greg Lewis from Eagles - Reiss' Pieces - Boston.com (http://www.boston.com/sports/football/patriots/reiss_pieces/2009/03/report_patriots_2.html)

i like the idea of trading him and possibly picking up a pick, but if there is no interest from him why dont we keep him around for camp and see what happens instead of just dumping him now? whats the advantage of that?

Gaffney is still relatively young and can contribute in this league, there's no question about that. I have mixed feelings about letting Moss walk though. That guy is a true Redskin.
