I think we will sign fletcher at some point, but my guess is he will be some where in the three to four million dollar range. If he really wanted 7-9 million, he wont be to happy. Unfortunately for him, thats market.

I dont see him as a guy that is motivated, which may be his problem. Gotta say, little disappointed in the Skins effort in FA to improve the team. Little headway in the secondary and Oline. Great effort to get a QB and WRs which is awesome, but not resigning Fletch is troubling as well. So are we taking the chance with Kory L coming off a serious knee injury who wont be able to step on the field to possibly late august? Or Jamal Brown while still decent in run blocking, but is horrible pass blocker? At this time we still have no answer at safety other than Maryweather(feminine spelling until he proves otherwise) who has struggled immensely the last 2 years at safety. A good friend who is a Vikings fan, first thing he said about C Griffin "talented, but takes alotta plays off. Needs to be motivated to give 90%". We have 3 spots at safety and 2 spots at CB including nickle where we need bodies. Gomes is the only guy worth returning at safety, he could challenge for a starters spot which is promising. We need to grab some remaining talent. Our picks in the 3rd and 4th rounds are extremely important. We need to pick it up a little bit, letting Josh Johnson get away is disappointing. O Line was not as bad as most are making it seem. We did pretty average with TWO backup tackles at the end of the season. I bet if we paid big money to those back up tackles on the FA market you would complain still. Can we get past the draft? Also, whats so good about Josh Johnson? Guy doesn't know the offense half as well as Rex. If we got him we would essentially have 2 rookie QBs coming in. Would have been nice to get it but it's not a big deal and nowhere near a disappointment. We have had worse Free Agency periods where we went out and got the people we needed but overpaid. We're in good shape. Monkeydad 03-23-2012, 03:30 PM I'm perfectly fine with Grossman as the backup. His decision-making and at times his accuracy and throwing ability blows goats, but he does know the offense very well and can help Griffin learn the playbook. Also, there's NO chance of him challenging Griffin for the job. As long as he's content being the teacher and backup, he's a far better backup to have than an outsider. skinsfan69 03-23-2012, 03:42 PM I wouldnt be opposed to bring him in and give him a look. Can't fix everything in one year. As far as the o-line is concerned I think that they think that the younger guys that got some time last year will improve. The secondary is a potential disaster. You said it....They need to REALLY strike gold with the 3rd and 4th rounders and hopefully those picks will be secondary and 0-line. Those two guys might have to be starters or play significant time. Josh Johnson?? Really??? skinsfan69 03-23-2012, 03:46 PM I'm perfectly fine with Grossman as the backup. What scares me is that Shanahan will say..." we're going to play the guy who gives us the best chance to win!" And then comes Rex to start the season. We all know he doesn't like to play young guys. We may not see RG3 til mid season. Bubba305-ST21- 03-23-2012, 03:57 PM What scares me is that Shanahan will say..." we're going to play the guy who gives us the best chance to win!" RG3 gives us the best chance i beleive, i think he will pick up things fairly quickly in the full offseason. There will be hiccups but thats expected. Said with fat ass Albert and was right. RG3 will start day one, barring he turns out to be a complete idiot. Chico23231 03-23-2012, 04:19 PM Can't fix everything in one year. Josh Johnson?? Really??? how many more years Shanny got? Id really like Mo Hurt to step up on the inside at Guard, think he can improve and make a difference. RT is a serious issue, amazed this hasnt been addressed. GTripp0012 03-23-2012, 04:25 PM I wouldnt be opposed to bring him in and give him a look. We need to pick it up a little bit, letting Josh Johnson get away is disappointing. The Patriots added about 3.5 (using AV as a measuring stick) times as much vet talent as the Redskins did, using about half the cap space to do so. It can be done, but the Redskins obviously felt their entire roster was really close to being playoff-caliber, just was short on the end of passing and receiving. So now that those needs are taken care of: super bowl! how many more years Shanny got? Id really like Mo Hurt to step up on the inside at Guard, think he can improve and make a difference. RT is a serious issue, amazed this hasnt been addressed. Here's why nothing this team does surprises me: I saw Casey Rabach start 32 games AFTER I realized he was a known weakness on the offensive line that opposing coordinators would exploit. Then after those 32 games, Shanahan gave him (and Mike Williams!) a 3 year contract extension. And he arguably played worse for Shanahan/Forester than he did for Zorn/Bugel. GTripp0012 03-23-2012, 04:34 PM Didn't you want Franklin?I didn't want to give Franklin actual money. I thought Cofield would be the better nose tackle RoC (rest of career). I still think that. |
