2012 Redskins Free Agency Tracker

Really, best QB prospect since John Elway and yet the Redskins would be getting screwed? Keep in mind I absolutely love Griffin and I hate making it sound like I'm putting him down because he's an amazing prospect himself, easily the number 1 pick/QB in any draft outside of 2012 and 2004 in the current era. However we have to appreciate that in terms of the top rated player in the pre-draft process, no one is going to beat a healthy Andrew Luck.

You have Mel Kiper and Todd McShay asking scouts around the league who the top QB is and all they can come up with is one guy leaning towards Griffin.

I mean who do you guys think is the top prospect on the Redskins draft board? Now who has the better career and who plays better after draft day is a different question but as of April when all that matters is scouting reports and evaluations no one has a chance to beat Luck.

Well, we're still talking to Demetrius Bell

I had heard we had interest in Anthony Collins but don't know where that went

We spoke to Dominique Foxworth but the interest isn't urgent, and I think he would like to return to the Ravens (at a lower price, at a later date), and the Ravens would want him back it seems. Also, after signing Cedric Griffin, not sure how many just off torn ACL DBs we can take

We had been trying to get Ryan Harris and/or picks from Denver but that seems to have dissolved, for the moment at least

Nothing else really major that I can recall at the moment

As for Johnson, well we've been talking here for months about how he might be on our radar. Especially if the talks with Rex-which went through several ups and downs-fell apart.

That said, even with Rex signed I don't think our interest has significantly waned (though I'm sure it has some). Another thing we've talked about here, the Redskins really wanted to draft him back in 2008 but he was taken a round before we could take him and we ended up drafting Colt instead. I believe it was Scott Campbell who was pushing for him, can't recall though. Lucky for us, the guy who did end up drafting JJ works for us now.

Personally, I'd like to add Bell. I know he's always hurt, but he's a high risk/high reward pickup that might not cost that much comparatively. I wish we were more active in trying to improve the secondary, but I guess most of the best guys are gone. I'd still like to pursue Tracey Porter though. I guess we'll address the secondary in the draft. I could see Josh Johnson being a solid backup for years to come.

Luck has the same 40 time as Newton. I agree that 40 time really isn't important to a QBs success.
But getting the times wrong is one of my pet peeves.
Luck running the same 4o times as Newton is one those track related misconceptions from the combine that persists even though its not true.
Luck's official 40 time 4.67
Newton's official 40 time 4.59

None bugs me as much as Vick getting credit a 4.33 even though he didn't even run at the combine.
Neither here nor there I kinda hope Griff runs tommorrow if he does I'll bet he'll be sub 4.41

Anyone know if they're televising RG3's pro day tomorrow?

Probably not worth it. I remember watching Locker's pro day on ESPN last year bored out of my mind.

You're a doctor. Prescribe yourself something to make yourself feel better.

You can watch the pro day on ESPNU or WatchESPN.com.

It's not Orakpo. Thought we went over this. We offered Orakpo to St. Louis, they said no thanks. Then we tried to move him to get a WR and or picks to St. Louis via a 3rd team. Didn't materialize. We ended up giving our 2nd rounder to St. Louis and got RG3 or Luck anyway. So, barring some major surprise, Orakpo stays

Thanks for the clarification SS, so much has gone on in the last few weeks that it is easy to forget who was involved with what!

I take it that you would rather not tell us who the Skins were trying to move to get Ryan Harris. OK then, I'll guess: Chris Cooley?

Wait, wait, let me guess again. Did Denver want John Beck before they had to settle for Peyton Manning?
