No, 28 bitter/jealous/crybaby NFL owners and their puppet commissioner just cost us $36 mil.

Sometimes it's easier to pile on than back your team up even when they did nothing wrong.

No I think you misunderstood my point, my point was about Vincent Jackson and I was saying signing someone like that will backfire on you more than 50 percent of the time. Someone had asked "why the hate on vincent" and I was answering their question from my point of view on him. I said that the new management is starting to build through the draft multiple times which is why I said it looks like we have a bright future. I think using free agency can help you but its my opinion that you build through the draft and use free agency to fill a couple of pieces here and there if that makes sense. Like Winston, i think he would be a good tackle for us. I just don't like Vincent because of what he appears to be to me. Thats why I answered that guys question about him.

Gotcha. I understand your concerns about VJax, but at the same time the team has to surround RG3 with weapons. RG3 is a vast improvement over our QBs last year, but he is not going to automatically going to make avg receivers better. Look at Cam last year, he has the skills, but Steve Smith helped A LOT. So far, Bruce Allen has shown us that he won't go overboard with contracts, and I hope this stays true with VJax...though I am afraid that with Colston going back to the Saints, the price for VJax just got even higher.

VJax is 29. Why would we want to spend big to sign a 29 year old receiver to one of the biggest contracts in history for a receiver and pair him with a rookie quarterback? by the time Griffen is up to speed, VJax will likely be on the decline.... and thats IF he stays clean and doesnt get a year-long suspension.

In three years, i'd be all about spending big on a marquee receiver. right now, i just dont see the point in it (especially in light of our reduced cap space).

If you had to make a choice, $8 million a year for a 36 year old MLB who's been a rock for this team on an off the field for the past several years but probably wouldn't see the end of his contract or $11 million a year for a 29 year old WR who's arguably the best on the market but is one suspension away from being out for a year...which would you choose?

Fletcher, with no hesitation. Character is essential to building a strong team; it's infectious and leaves in its wake a winning attitude. Talent without character is counterproductive to winning in the NFL.

You see, what people don't understand about Finnegan is the dumb penalties he takes for roughing, playing after the whistle, and generally doing other dumb things are far different than the penalties we chastise D.Hall for, like penalties for roughing, playing after the whistle, and generally doing other dumb things.

That's just the way Finnegan is and the mentality he brings. Totally different than the hotheads we've had past and present that continually hurt our team in key situations.

I just don't trust Vincent with money. Especially with his track record. I would rather sign Winston and improve our Oline cause in the end football comes down to Olines vs Dlines, I also feel that receiver is one of those postions where you can find hidden gems in later rounds in the draft. Broyles for example if he recovers which reports say he is could be a great slot receiver. Adams from Arkansas had an impressive senior bowl and at one point was in heisman talk and he might drop cause of a bad 40 time. I just see receivers around the league and where they were drafted and think that they are similar to running backs in terms of value, Unless either of the Johnsons or Fitzgeralds are free agents, I don't see the need to pay a lot of money to a receiver.

Of course, building through the draft is a luxury the Skins have very little of right now. So it's essential that they use free agency. The picks that they lost (basically two first rounders and a second) would typically equal at least one stud, possibly two. So it's on us the front office to aggresively pursue some studs in free agency. That is going to cost the team, and it will be a risk, but it's really the only option at this point. It won't be enough to just surround Griffin with 21 role players.
