I guess they are ready to roll with Kaepernick if that happens
Who with Harbraugh's coaching could easily turn out better then Smith. Great physical tools just a little raw mentally coming out of school in a pistol offense.

I wouldn't say that but he definitely had a David Garrard type year where he had average numbers in terms of yards and TD's but barely through any Int's behind a great defense and running game.
Either way Alex Smith is to San Francisco what Jason Campbell was to us. He'll usually be good but when the system breaks down he has trouble making something happen. To me thats the difference between good and elite, guys that make something happen when the first and second read are gone.

Funny question though, what do the Browns do now? lol, do they go after Peyton? Certainly Weeden would be an interesting choice for them.
Also almost forgot that San Fran traded up for Kapernick

And what happens to San Fran is smith goes there and Manning doesn't sing with them?
Kapernick can probably play and might surprise.

Probably the best thing for them to do. Plus if I was them I would be going Blackmon with that first pick, as that goes a long way towards addressing their problem with dropped balls (http://www.cleveland.com/browns/index.ssf/2011/12/receivers_are_the_nfls_best_--.html) and then I would use either that second 1st or their 2nd round pick for a RB. LaMar Miller, David Wilson, Doug Martin, LaMichael James, I mean take your pick, though to me Miller and James are the two most intriguing options.....not sure though how Cleveland would feel about a player named James.
The other thing I'd like to see them do is get Richardson, then Michael Floyd if he drops that far but it's much easier to find a running back then it is to find a sure handed receiver. On top of that Cleveland isn't ready to compete for a title yet so drafting a RB in the top 10, even one as good as Richardson, this early in the rebuilding process could easily be a mistake in spite of any success Richardson would go on to have.
Tampa makes a lot more sense seeing as how they already have a lot of the pieces.
