Thanks, but there's no chance we get London at 6 and Carriker at 2.5.

It's one thing to be upset by it and recognize it hinders our previously outstanding cap situation. It's quite another to say free agency is over for us.
I said they took away free agency from us. I'm sure you're aware of what's going on, how are you not frustrated by this?

Yes...hence the whole "Canuck" part of his username.

We understand, it was easy to miss.
Never seen him post before, no need to be ignorant about it. Already changed it.

I would agree that some people are over-reacting in terms of judging our ability to continue to operate in a competitive manner but you seem to be entirely nonchalant about this which is really curious to me. The league is taking 15% of our cap space away over the next two years. If you think that doesn't have a significant affect on our ability to compete then you're fooling yourself. Your under-reaction is on par with their over-reaction. They are taking 15% that we can never get back...restructures or not that cap space is gone forever even if we figure out clever tricks for pushing it all out into future years. Restructuring doesn't make the 36 mil go away it just spreads it out over however many years and saddles us with less cap money then.

The world is not ending but we are unfairly getting screwed. Does it not at least make you mad?

Not sure how my middle of the road view compares with the silly doom and gloom of some folks. Yeah it hurts but are we totally out of free agency now?

Sorry that I'm not screaming to tar and feather Goodell, it's a shitty situation but it's a workable one. And it's one that the Skins should have seen as a possibility of coming to fruition. Fair or not it's something we have to deal with one way or another.

NFL Draft. (RG3 +)
Fletcher (To me this is a priority)

How much money do we have after this?

Lots. Check out the other threads from people who actually know what they are talking about (i.e. Schneed, CrazyCanuck). Seriously, on this site, we have a couple of the best cap guys on the web. When they say "Chill", you can take it to the bank. We went from being in an amazingly, superfantabulous position to being in a solidly good one.

While I am incensed by the whole "Let's arbitrarily change the rules to punish those who didn't help us do something illegal", as others have pointed out, it is simply not the end of the world. RGIII's contract is not going to be like rookies of old and Fletch will get a solid, but not breathtaking deal.

It's wrong, but we will be okay capwise regardless of the out come.

Depends on how you structure those deals.

They haven't taken it away from us. No matter how you slice it we still have more than a little cap space to makes moves. I mean the concept isn't rocket-science.

do you think we will go into this FA like nothing has happend and just putt of the 36 mill until next year since we belie e we haven't done anything wrong and try and fight it before then? that's what I got from our statement, that our mindset is the same and nothing has changed

And, if we're being totally honest, there is no Salary Cap Central thread (the one you're posting in) if not for CrazyCanuck

Even during the years where the Redskins over spent freely and were always in cap hell or close to it, they still were able to sign guys (regardless if they were over the hill or not) so I'm not worried that the Redskins will still be able to take advantage of free agency this year and next. But FRPLG does bring up a good point. This does affect the Redskins, even somewhat over those years of restructure, so I'll be curious to see how the front office is able to work that out over the years. I have not doubt the 'skins will be just fine, but they should definitely fight this.
