The Atogwe problem is this: we brought him in because Haslett wanted him. We paid him eight figures in terms of a year one contract. His performance here was pretty consistent (in spite of some injury related to his age) with what it was in St. Louis. He certainly wasn't worth the $10 million he made last year. He was worth about half that.
Well, his contract was structured so that he was only going to be about a $4-$5 million dollar player per season from here on out. That's about what he's worth.
And after a year where absolutely nothing surprising happened with Atogwe, Shanahan releases him despite Haslett still wanting him.
This is why I keep telling y'all there isn't a greater plan in place than what meets the eye. Our FO is a couple of guys with different opinions all pushing for their guy. And Atogwe is a great example of how our FO operates.

I like Sam Huff. His senility is sad yet amusing.

do we know that haslett still wants him? or that their wasn't any other reason behind his release (sometimes teams get tired of injured players, drop guys for duis, leaking inside info, not having heart, locker room issues, or a million other things besides straight on field performance)?
just wondering if you had a link or if that statement was purely conjecture on your part...
