CultBrennan59 03-17-2012, 04:03 PM Random question which has an assumptive answer but not a known answer as of now; What if Robert Griffin says he doesn't want to play for us? Swarley 03-17-2012, 04:04 PM In regards to gtripps question: To be perfectly honest, and don't every one go biting my head for this, I'd take it. A nice run of NFC East Championships and constant playoff appearances is a far cry from what we've seen here in recent times. skinsfaninok 03-17-2012, 04:05 PM Random question which has an assumptive answer but not a known answer as of now; What if Robert Griffin says he doesn't want to play for us? Then we don't take him I guess idk Or trade him Swarley 03-17-2012, 04:06 PM Random question which has an assumptive answer but not a known answer as of now; What if Robert Griffin says he doesn't want to play for us? tell him, kiss my ass and show him the money. whistler 03-17-2012, 04:08 PM the trade is a done deal, get over it. i will say it again, we gave up 2 #1's and 1 #2. not 3 #1's, we still have a #1 pick this year. we have missed on QB's in the past but the two most recent were Campbell and Ramsey both late 1st round picks. we are going for it hoping to get a franchise QB, who knows if it will pan out. You forgot Heath Shuler. However, I am for the trade. The skins did the right thing to grab a qb that they think fits the offense, and one who is coachable. If they sat around waiting for a qb to drop in their lap, or signed another teams cast-off it may or may not work. I'd rather had the team succeed or fail with the guy they really wanted and is a home grown product. WaldSkins 03-17-2012, 04:14 PM Random question which has an assumptive answer but not a known answer as of now; What if Robert Griffin says he doesn't want to play for us? I dont think that would be an issue with a high caracter person like Griffin. I mean where exactly would he wanna play if not here? We are a much better option then other QB needy teams like the Browns, Dolphins, and Jags. GTripp0012 03-17-2012, 04:16 PM My question was more pertaining to the compensation in the trade than to the player. If Robert Griffin looked like Donovan McNabb for four years, I think he's pretty safely going to get that second contract. But outside of "we'll take it", well, duh, we have no choice now. But would you have traded three firsts and a second to take a guy who ends up having Donovan McNabb's career, or would it have been better to keep the picks and see whats behind the mystery door that is the career of Ryan Tannehill, Nick Foles, Brock Osweiler, or Kirk Cousins? The point is, none of those guys (maybe Foles or Cousins, but I digress) is "likely" to enjoy a career like Donovan McNabb's career. Griffin's got a decent chance. At least that's the expectation. But would you cash in a multi-time pro bowl career for the chance to draft a guy who could do just as well or better, and still have three first round picks (or two firsts and a second, if Tannehill)? Swarley 03-17-2012, 04:19 PM Yes, I'm tired of the mystery door. GTripp0012 03-17-2012, 04:20 PM Because obviously if Griffin ends up in the Hall of Fame, there wasn't a price that was too large to pay for that. Yes, I'm tired of the mystery door.Gotcha. That's fair, especially with the "decisions" we've seen Shanahan make at quarterback the last two years. No more guesswork, lets cash in now. I get that. A team with a good personnel guy gets much more value out of the picks. But the Redskins? They might very well get more out of Griffin. Lotus 03-17-2012, 05:31 PM What if it gives us a guy who has Donovan McNabb's career? I would be happy for a few years of DMac in his prime. However, if that is what we get, we will not have gotten full value in the trade. But maybe we get more than just DMac in his prime. It will be interesting to see how this goes. But DMac is not the true yardstick since we can't draft him. The real question is, will the difference between Griffin and Tannehill be worth 2 #1's and a #2? For the sake of my mental health, I am just going to assume for now that Griffin will be A LOT better than Tannehill. Don't be surprised to hear me crow in a couple of years if this completely blind assumption proves wrong. |
