mooby 03-16-2012, 02:06 PM My guess is that I say this once and then am ignored forever...
Since he said in his interview with Mooch that he doesn't like being called RGIII and prefers Griffin, can we please call him Griffin? If we're not going to call him what he wants to be called, who will?
I will try but I'm not going to make any promises. It's so easy to call him that. I'm gonna try Griff out.
SmootSmack 03-16-2012, 02:07 PM Yeah that's why I've been writing Griffin. Though RG3 seemingly takes less time, and what are the odds he would see what we write on here anyway, or even get really offended by it
"I was excited to play in the nation's capital with Mike Shanahan, and I had a good conversation with Pierre Garcon the other day...but then I was reading mooby's post online and you know what **** all the Redskins fans for calling me RG3. I want out! And I let my agent know to get a trade done"
Paintrain 03-16-2012, 02:10 PM When is Jon Gruden's QB special again? I really would like to see his interview with both Luck and Griffen.
Gruden's QB Camp with Griffin is April 2nd. DVR will be set and that will be saved, for sure.
For those who are still grumpy about the price we paid for the trade, just look at what's going on in Cleveland where the team president is having to explain to their fan base why they didn't make the trade.
Or where I live in S. Florida, Dolphins fans are not at all excited about the prospect of Matt Flynn and are lukewarm at best on the thoughts of Ryan Tannehill in the draft.
Pick your poison, I'd rather be missing a few picks and getting a top flight QB this draft than being deflated once again about the most important position on the field.

:laughing-
If that happened, I would cry myself to sleep every night after the Redskins lose due to bad qb play, and I'd also voluntarily ban myself from the boards to prevent something like that from ever happening again.

I agree. I feel so bad for Browns fans. They are upset about not making this deal even though they still get to keep 3 first round picks. That makes me feel better about the Redskins' position.
The Goat 03-16-2012, 02:43 PM True. But how many qb's have to deal with a desperate franchise like ours, combined with the fact that 3 first round picks were given up for them?
I think he has the talent and right mentality to succeed in the NFL, I'm just thinking about potential concerns.
Legitimate concerns IMO. Pressure (levels) vary from one situation to the next and each franchise is different. I tend to agree RGIII will be walking into the highest pressure situation of any QB this season, in fact, by a long shot.
NYCskinfan82 03-16-2012, 03:32 PM He was asked that during an interview .... An flat out said no ...
It's not in him to do that .....
Yes I remember hearing that to.

I feel bad for Philbin, who did the right thing to get rid of Marshall, even if it means selling low. They have a bad GM and a potentially good coach. I just don't see how that coach can succeed.
The Browns will probably be alright. A big question for them is whether Shurmur needs to win this year to keep Holmgren/Heckert all together. They'll be okay taking any of Tannehill, Blackmon, or Richardson at no. 4. Still think they are the best off of these three teams coming out of this year's draft.
The Redskins need to make a leap to contention sooner rather than later. There's not enough draft picks to justify struggling through this season. There is no: at least we'll be better when...
I think Griffin offers a legitimate path out of the vicious cycle of the last twenty years, but you can only put so much one guy. At some point, he'll need help. And by help, I don't mean Roy Helu and Pierre Garcon. I mean a player development machine that actually makes underachievers replaceable.
skinsfaninok 03-16-2012, 03:45 PM Great post tripp as for Miami... Ouch! And if the don't get Flynn they will trade up for tannehill I imagine

I think I've finally found something we completely agree on!
As positive and optimistic as I tend to be (some call it homerism, pfft) its clear this roster is not a Super Bowl contending roster. Some of our 'better' players like Garcon, Helu, etc. are role players on championship teams. We're fooling ourselves if we think that Helu is a feature back in the NFL, he's a good to very good change of pace back but he's not a bell-cow. Garcon will be the most explosive WR we've had around these parts in a long time but again, he'd be deadly opposite a star that draws double teams. Even someone like Fred Davis, supremely talented but still not elite.
RGIII gives us our best chance at a truly elite player since probably Champ Bailey. He is going to do some things that will make us leap out of our seats but until he's got the cast around him to support those plays with consistent greatness we will not be among the upper echelon of teams. We need to draft not only well but excellently for the next couple of years and make smart acquisitions in free agency.
With our (projected) roster and a rapid learning experience from RGIII we could be in the 7-8-9 win range next season with the hope that in 2014 we've reached a level of being a consistent threat for 10-11 wins per year.
I probably believe in the coaching ability of Mike and Kyle more than some so I hope they can coach up our less talented players to a higher level of production.
