Redskins agree to trade for No.2 overall pick in 2012 Draft

No need to watch the first hour of the draft lol. Time to get the RG3 jersey, as soon as find out what number he is.

No - however you feel about this trade - after watching the redskins draft RGIII, it's time to start taking shots.

Now that it's official Robert Griffin III will be a Redskin, I'm very elated. I feel a since of satisfaction and I doubt seriously if RG3 will bust. He could make the pro bowl in his rookie season. But it's important that there's not an enormous amount of pressure on him. I just want to see him succeed.

We got 2 first rounders for Sean Gilbert and a whole draft for Ricky Williams and all we ended up with was 1 playoff win.

This is a passing league now and we had to do everything we can to get a Franchise QB.
Let's hope he is worth it.

I still think that relying on any free agent coming in for the redskins would be a big risk regardless. That's assuming that they would be able to even acquire one that was good enough.

With RGIII, we have hope. I'm trying to look at the bright side of giving up do many high picks. That's trading 2 Kerrigans and 1 Jarvis Jenkins. But at least the redskins made what was their biggest weakness into hopefully their biggest strength at the most important position in the nfl.Even a sexy stopgap is still a stopgap, sure. There are no guarantees.

I mean, go to any year during the preseason. Redskins fans were never lacking in hope. Most people picked 8-10 wins last year. Is it more justified this year? Well, you have to feel good about your running game, if Kyle Shanahan can figure out how to work it into the gameplan this year. The passing game is probably going to get a boost too. There is legitimate potential in this offense, which there was not last year.

But the defense is a huge question mark and the special teams have been bad for years.

So I think hope this year is kind of like hope in the other years. The Redskins still project as a pretty weak team. RG3 needs just one good season to change the overall long term prospects of the organization. He has that kind of power. But if he's Blaine Gabbert with a wicked bootleg as a rookie, then the Redskins look like the team they've always looked like.

That's just the thing though. We're not getting a great QB. We're getting a great QB prospect. And a prospect needs his teammates to pick up some of the slack early in his career so he can pay it back on the back end.

To be clear, by the time we're talking about Griffin carrying us, you're talking 2016, 2017, 2018. Only one QB drafted by the Redskins since the merger made it that far into his career before being forced out of town.

In the mean time, what you KNOW you have in Griffin is a viable starter at the quarterback position. Which we've had in plenty of other years from Grossman to McNabb, Campbell, Brunell, Johnson, etc.

True, but we may have missed out on a great QB if we didn't make the trade. Ya never know........

I agree bring back Rex as backup and to help teach system to RG3.

We traded a king's ransom for him. There is huge pressure on him starting right now.
