Far from home like Mississippi. Players could eat at Leatha's barbeque and blow off steam by catching bands at the Thirsty Hippo. WIN.that far would be ideal, southern california even better ;)

I dont see a problem with having training camp in Richmond.

I know DC wants to move Redskins Park into DC. The Mayor went to Tampa to get an idea of what a state of the art facility is like. He wants to offer a site next to RFK Stadium.

All the warpath richmonders should get together when it comes to town!

outsiders welcome too ;)

I'm no longer a richmonder, but went to VCU & love the town. Would be a nice visit!

I'll organize a get together meet-and-greet. Menu ideas anyone?

That was great

I wouldn't say the Redskins are ignoring fans in Maryland and/or ceding the state to the Ravens but I have heard their focus is to really target fans in DC, Virginia, West Virginia, and even North Carolina (strong Gibbs influence and still a lot of fans from the pre-Panthers days). FedEx is what it is right now, they'll be there for a while.

For those of us who would rather not pay that steep price for NFL Sunday ticket who live or will be living in North Carolina, I'd love more than anything for the 'skins to market themselves more in NC and possibly have more of their games played down there. It's said that where I'm moving from, I can catch every single Redskins game on TV, but just 40 minutes down the road, that's not the case! :(

I've been to Cowboys camp in Oxnard, evict them and move the Redskins in.

I'd hate this as a PA resident. Instead of a 2 hour drive, it would be 4 hours.

Also, from the article:

But the timing – late July to mid-August -- would conflict with the training for the Spiders and facilities might not be sufficient for simultaneous use by a pro team, a college team and other fall-sports teams for the Spiders
City and business representatives say the focus has shifted to Virginia Commonwealth University, which doesn’t have a football team or stadium, but has dormitory and sports medicine facilities.
VCU Athletic Director Norwood Teague confirmed today that the university has been involved in the city’s plan to draw the Redskins. Teague said VCU “has tried to offer some of our facilities that would work. We’re not sure what will work, and will not work.”
“That’s a tough time for us because (Redskins) training camp is during the time when all of our athletes come back for fall sports,” he said. “That makes it a bit problematic, but who knows?”
Teague said a combination of city, VCU, and UR facilities is conceivable, but such an arrangement would be unusual for an NFL team.
