REDSKINS4ever 03-09-2012, 10:55 AM I have no problem with Rex briefly starting if we know there's a young QB a la RG3 or Tannehill waiting in the wings...not Beck
Truthfully, I don't want either Grossman or Beck quarterbacking the Redskins. I'm hoping that the Redskins lean against re-signing Grossman and I'm also hoping that Jonathan Crompton outshines Beck in training camp/preseason. They both showed their worthlessness last season. It is time to move on from both of them.

This. Well, semi-this. I'm not a big fan of Orton/Tannehill, but if that was option A and my other option was Rex/Cousins or whomever, I'd take option A.
Ruhskins 03-09-2012, 10:58 AM From an outsiders stand point yes he does have a ton of upside. I will say he was not my choice last year when us fans were talking QB talk. Mine was Dalton. Perhaps the Browns have realized something we don't see, or it's going to take longer for him to develope then they thought? IDK. I get the feeling Holmgren is still in the mind set of win now and McCoy didn't give him that. I feel the same way with the Vikes. Although I think the Vikes are a little more happy with Ponder then the browns are with McCoy. But I could see both teams taking RGIII for their future. RGIII is definitely better then either teams current QB's. ... and for giggles I'd say the same for the Bucks.
When some of us talk of other QB's in this yrs draft the RGIII fans ask "how can you pass up on such a talent, a future franchise QB?" but when other teams are mentioned they come up with every excuse as to why those other teams won't want him. If he is such a catch, such a great player, could solidify a teams QB position for years then why wouldn't the Browns, Vikes and even the Bucks want him? Their QB's have not stepped up to be exceptional yet and who knows if they ever will.
I think the Browns want RG3, but their unwillingness to deal their two draft picks makes me think they may not necessarily want him THAT much.
SBXVII 03-09-2012, 11:09 AM Lerner isn't like that. He lets his football people do all of the work, he doesnt meddle. Plus if they make the trade up with the Rams, how would they still have a first to draft a RB? All of the reports have been saying that the price starts with two firsts and from Cleveland both picks from this year.
OK, if I'm not mistaken we don't have 2 first round picks. The Skins offered (I thought):
2012- 1st, 3rd
2013- 1st, 4th
The Rams want our 2nd round pick to go with the other 2012 picks. The Skins said no thank you because they want to keep the 2nd round pick.
I'm not sure what was asked of the Browns but they balked also. I presumed they made a similar offer and possibly the Rams wanted their 2nd rounder also or their second 1st rounder added to the offer and the Browns said no.
All I'm saying is the Browns could beat our offer by simply offering their first of two first round picks, offer their 2nd round pick, and their 3rd round pick, along with next yrs 1st and 4th. They get RGIII and still have their second first round pick to get a RB which they desperatly need.
Unless I'm mistaken (yet again) and the Browns don't have 2 first round picks?
Wpath2012 03-09-2012, 11:13 AM Its very unfortunate that the Colts released Manning. But everything happens for a reason and I believe he should go to a team that would appreciate him, and not release him. There's speculation of him going to the Miami Dolphins. If he does, I think it would be a great idea for him to do that. It would be a change of environment!

I personally have no problem with Rex starting the 1st couple games if say RG3 is not ready. However, I think Rex starting the home opener will create a bad vibe in the stadium that we don't really need as we start a new season. The boo birds and chants of RG3 are going to start at the 1st incompletion let alone interception. For that reason it's safer to just start fresh with all new QB's...
SBXVII 03-09-2012, 11:16 AM You know what is nice about SBXVII? He is the only one that uses that avatar so as soon as you see it you can quickly move on to the next post.
I know. I really liked my "R" scripted helmet avatar but others started using it also and I had trouble quickly finding my posts. So I started using this avatar. It helps but I get bored easily and would like to see some new avatars (hint) but I'm guessing the avatar man is busy or could use some more cool photo's to make new avatar's with.

Boooooo. oh yea no your right. On top of that I don't think you can start Rex, change him out for RGIII and if he struggles think of even changing back.
They are better off letting Rex go, (hate to say it) keep Beck for camp, keep Crompton for camp, pick up another Vet (Flynn, Orton), and draft some one like Tannehill, Cousins, Weeden. Then let the QB position play out in preseason. Then I'd cut Beck if we didn't prior and Crompton. Keep the new Vet and Rookie. If it's Orton/Rookie I'd hope Rookie starts and Orton is back up, If it's Flynn/Rookie then Rookie can be back up and develope cause as someone else said your not going to pay Flynn starting money which he will want and make him backup.
I still think RGIII is too expensive with all our needs. I'll take Flynn/Rookie and give MS the last 3 yrs to make the young QB's work out. Only other option I like would be trading back for more picks taking Rookie QB in the 1st, WR in 2nd, and picking up another Rookie QB somewhere and let them battle in preseason. Then play the best of the two. With this option we'd have two young QB's to develope over 3 yrs. If after 3 yrs we still suck MS will be gone anyway.
SBXVII 03-09-2012, 11:27 AM Ok at the risk of not looking back I found this funny so sorry if it has been posted...

Flynn is not an option worth even discussing. The one thing that everyone in the football world agrees on is that the Redskins do not like Flynn.
