Philip Daniels is on record saying he received $1,500 for a game vs Dallas in 2005 and some bonuses were up to $8,000. Only player I can possibly imagine getting that kind of money would be Sean Taylor.

So now its Brees and Cousins or Brees and Foles?

Ha, that would be my first choice. Way above Manning, RG3, or Luck.

:oink:

FWIW, I get the sense that Brees would like to run for office in New Orleans after football. He's been very clear that he and his wife are committed to the city, if not the team, for the long haul and plans on being there.

Well, to be fair I updated the thread title. Williams not only made no attempt to deny it, he apologized for it and said he knew it was wrong when he was doing it. Yikes.

Sean Payton knew about it NO, but I've gotta believe that Gibbs didn't know about it here.

The hits on Favre weren't legal

NFL fines New Orleans Saints defensive end Bobby McCray for late hits on Brett Favre - New Orleans Saints Football NFL News - NOLA.com (http://www.nola.com/saints/index.ssf/2010/01/nfl_fines_new_orleans_saints_d.html?mobRedir=false )

Yeah, I mean according to the WaPo article, he was encouraging players to go out there and land what he called "kill shots" on opponents. That's not ok.

Washington Redskins, New Orleans Saints had bounty systems that paid for big hits [updated] - The Insider - The Washington Post (http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/football-insider/post/new-orleans-saints-had-bounty-system-that-paid-for-injuring-opponents-nfl-announces/2012/03/02/gIQAPNDDnR_blog.html)

This does not make Daniels look good.
I bet he gets the boot.

There were a lot of things Williams kept from Gibbs, which was one reason Snyder was always kind of suspicious of him. I'm guessing this was one if them

On the other hand, Gibbs had to have some idea of Williams' way since he was essentially a Buddy Ryan clone, one of the few people Gibbs legitimately could not stand

Anytime you have a bounty for big hits, it's likely to lead to late hits, intent to injure hits, etc. That's why no kind of bounty system is legal, because the league knows it's going to lead to problems even if it wasn't technically calling for players to injure others.

For all the people who post "I have no problem with it" or whatever, it's against the rules. Coaches and players don't get to decide which rules they want to follow and which they don't.
