Doughty is average and he fields a position that usually is occupied by average players.
That said based on what hes done on and off the field I'd love to have a Doughty jersey.
(under $50.00 of course)

Cap room doesn't mean you overpay guys for that aren't producing up to their salary. Do you think Bill Gates pays a janitor 400k a year? Nope. Why not? He has the money to do so if he chose. It's about doing smart business which is something we have long neglected. Cooley is going to have to restructure to stay, which I'm quite positive he will. He knows that Fred Davis is the #1 now, so he'll be a great guy coming off the bench or in the 2 TE set.

That janitor probably made $millions in stock options;)

I think all this talk of how well he is doing is aimed at getting him that 28 million on Thursday, and if that fails, drawing interest for him in free agency.

Everything else in this situation has been coldly calculated. So why not this too?

I don't think anything he does at this point is going to get the Colts to give him that $28M.

You know maybe not, but if that were the case why have'nt they llet him go yet. Maybe they are negotiating to keep him and all this talk along with the video are being put out there to get them to increase their offer. One of the guys I respect the most thinks the Colts want to keep him, Gil Brandt.

Like everything else, these things always go down to the last minute.

This way the Colts can say, we did our due diligence, we weighed all the options and in the end we had to do what we felt was best for the organization.

He's not staying.

I would rather they find a replacement for the guys in front of him. Although, the coaches seem to have faith in him for some reason, he seems to be going into the Rabach zone (a player that was kept from year to year despite their poor abilities).

The last two years I was quite surprised when he made the team coming out of the final cut down to 53.

What else does he have to prove to that organization?

That he can make more than one long throw via something other than a handheld, home made video at Duke's practice facility that is posted on YouTube.
