Pat Kirwin, I still say a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 1st is what it takes

I have yet to hear of any teams that are willing to give that up. I can't imagine the Rams would just take the 2nd pick themselves and not take a team's 1st this year, 1st next year and a mid round pick (3rd or 4th).

Ray got 3 years $22M

Sounds about right for Fletch.

edit: Well, actually Ray's deal was a little complicated, here are the details

Sources: Lewis deal actually seven years - Around the NFL - NFL*Blog - Yahoo! Sports (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/blog/around_the_nfl/post/Sources-Lewis-deal-actually-seven-years;_ylt=AvUJPRmtHZVJccBEHKZGyQpDubYF?urn=nfl,14 7057)

Sounds more complicated than it is really. He makes $10M in the 1st year, $5.5M in the 2nd, and $6.5M in the 3rd. Whether they pay him in salary or option bonus or roster bonus or signing bonus, etc. etc., it's just a matter of accounting and how much they wanna push to the future. Very little is guaranteed after the $10M in year 1.

I've been expecting something very similar for Fletch. The 7 years is ridiculous and only there for show. The max deal I see for Fletch is 5 years with an obvious out/restructure in year 3.

Something like:

2012 - $10M
2013 - $6M
2014 - $8M
2015 - $8M
2016 - $10M

So 5 years $42M for the press, but in reality 2 years $16M. In 2014 everyone re-evaluates. I expect the bulk of the money to be salary and roster bonus, meaning very little money pushed to the future, and very few deadcap repercussions when we part ways.

IMO this would be fine and fair. Ya maybe we could hardball to save a mill or two somewhere but in the big picture it's negligible. If Fletch doesn't deserve a little "respect money" than who does? The poor guy's become this generation's Ken Harvey.

Good post, I hope we can keep him.

if that is true then bye bye RG3 i would not do that. i would take my chances with Tannehill/Weeden/Cousins/Foles and Orton.

I said before that the skins should trade first round picks this year give next years 1st and Orakpo. Rob Jackson is good enough and ready to step in. RGIII is worth the investment.

I dunno....look at what the Bears gave up for Cutler.
They are still sucking wind as a result.

Look at what the Giants gave up to get Eli...and they're wearing two rings.

Don't listen to that pile of bull, its going to cost us an arm and a leg to get RG3. The Redskins always knew that Payton Manning was not coming to us. They were hoping to use him as a smoke screen, but it backfired to a degree with Payton clearly saying he does not want to play in DC.

He did? Proof?

They got to the NFC championship game in 2010 and looked pretty damn good until he got hurt this year. They have had the worst Oline and no recievers since he has been there. He has been worth every penny.

Peyton hasn't said anything yet.

Let's not confuse rumors and hearsay with fact.

Then why don't throw in Rob Jackson instead.
