I can't imagine why the Redskins staff or any staff would think that way about any prospect they want to draft.
No staff drafts a player, especially a QB, with the thought that 'he'll likely never be more then a good QB'
That's media/fan think not coach think.
I'm sure coach think is more along the lines of: when I get prospect X and teach prospect X skill A, B and C he could really become enter desired outcome here: franchise QB, pro bowl player etc.

Why'd you pull just that part of his post?

LOL why?

I think it was the first sentence of the second paragraph. Its pretty much half the sentiment here on this board. I'm not one though and I guess I just have trouble wrapping my brain around the idea of get him at whatever the cost when this team has done that with the previous regime for 10yrs without success and for the last 2 done the opposite and everyone is so desperate to have a "franchise" QB that they would be willing to do anything and everything just to get it.

Why'd you pull just that part of his post?Because I don't understand that part of his supposition, I don't think teams view prospects that they actually want to draft in the manner he described there.

Is McCoy the arm and Shipley the leg? Cleverly played, my friend

You and I think so alike. If I were a QB, I would like to have you as my main receiver. Just like the McCoy-Shipley team for redskins offense.

This years 1st, next years 1st and 2nd, and as many 4th rounders as they want. I don't count on 4th rounders to even make the team, but they are probably depth if they do. We have depth quality players, we need stars, particularly a star qb. 1st and 2nd rounders ideally are starters, but there is a fair chance that we would whiff on one of those next year, not because we suck, just because it happens and we might be due. So in this package, chances are we'd be giving up one future starter, which we can make up for in FA.
Furthermore, I'd consider spending a 1st or 2nd on a mediocre qb akin to giving up a starter and setting us back 3-4 years.
This all makes sense only if RG3 is the real deal, and I believe 100% that he is. In addition to being a world class athlete, he is brilliant, and a leader, which is something you cant put a price on. He'd make the whole team play with more confidence.
I don't know who the Giants lost out on to trade up for Eli, but they've got two rings with him, while we've been sitting at home nearly every January.
