CRedskinsRule 02-28-2012, 06:18 PM Ultimately when its said and done I believe we will give up
1st 2012
2nd 2012
4th 2012
1st 2013
3rd 2013
for mr. griffin.
There is no way that we give that much up. The 2013 3rd is definitely overkill, and the 2nd/4th this year might be negotiated differently(but to the same effect).
Mahons21 02-28-2012, 06:23 PM Griffin better be worth it! Two first rounders plus other picks. That's a lot when we lack depth.
I think we have descent depth:
-O line showed they had depth last year
-D-line has depth so long as Carricker returns and Jenkins is healthy
-Plethora of WRs/CBs
-OLB isn't too bad
-RB were stacked
-TE were set
-ILB we need to add a piece to, ideally Fletcher's eventual replacement
-Could use some help at safety.
What the Skins currently lack is playmakers, we don't have any top tier talent really. Which is why I'd be so hesitant to make a trade involving that many 1st and 2nd rd picks.
We need a:
-#1 WR
-#1 CB
-Starting right side of o-line, or C/RT depending on how they shuffle things
-Starting QB
-True NT

Ok man, I'm going to look back at this when the trade goes down..

When trading up in the 1st round, you don't give up that pick. So in this instance, the redskins are not giving up the 2012 1st rounder. The only 1st rounder they are giving up would be in 2013.
skinster 02-28-2012, 06:25 PM I think that we'll find out how much we have to give up after free agency ends. Lets say the browns get flynn and the dolphins get manning. Considering we would be the only feasible trade partner, i think we wouldnt have to give up more than two firsts, a second and a fourth.

that's why the speculation is that the deal will go down before free agency for the fact that the rams will get the most out of it that they can
Once you get that QB you can build around then the depth moves and the trade downs make more sense and suddenly you look like a genius. For now trading down for average depth players is putting lipstick on a pig. How is an extra linebacker, an average receiver, or a starting Guard going to get us in the playoffs compared to drafting a first tier franchise QB?
Unless you end up with Patrick Willis, Andre Johnson, and Carl Nicks with those draft picks it won't even start to compare to the impact a franchise QB brings to the table.
And I'm sorry but all of those second tier guys at QB (Foles, Weeden, Tannehill, Ossweiler, etc) are going to be dwarfed at the end of their careers by the acheivements of a certain Robert Griffin III.
Do you believe that any of the combined staffs of coaches responsible for drafting the many Overrated....underachieving.....savior QB's taken in the opening moments of the first round, thought at the time
hmmm, probably gonna' be a loser, bust wannabe, but what the hell. We'll go ahead and sling a handful of picks and players at him anyway.
I rather think they were ALL.......can't miss, sure things?

The 2013 first rounder probably handles that compensation. Then beyond that, you just have to be willing to make the best offer. A one, a three, and a five? That's almost certainly going to be best offer. Question is, will the Rams pull the trigger if the Redskins offer something close to that, or do they wait for the market value of the pick to settle?
30gut 02-28-2012, 07:09 PM Well, they'd like to give Jammal Brown a chance to finally get healthy
Some think they may make another run, yet again, at Ryan Harris
If they don't trade their 1st and 2nd, they have been showing interest in several OTs (Jonathan Martin, Riley Rieff, Mike Adams) and have told all them they'd be interested in them as RTsI hope the plan is to draft a top OT and not to re-sign Brown or Harris.
We need a long term solution at RT preferably someone that is good enough to provide insurance at the LT position in case smokey T. Williams takes anothe tok.
