I think there's a chance a team may pour a ton of money into Marques Colston who may end up a free agent bust. Here's the thing: when you look at Wes Welker, your perception of him matches the player type he is. Well, in terms of the Saints offense, Colston is pretty much the same guy as Welker, but that wouldn't compute just by eyeballing him.

It's identical to the Brandon Marshall conundrum from years ago, although Marshall did have a career year this season for Miami.

That's because Marshall is really good. Brees makes all those guys look better than they are. Their Offense scores with the same ease whether Colston is in the lineup or not.

The Saints are pretty loaded on offensive talent right now, but they won't be forever. Colston, Nicks, Meachem, Brees all up for free agency this year, Henderson next year, and its not really clear if they have anything notable in Mark Ingram yet that would have justified giving NE their first round draft pick this year.

Seems like a group that will age fast. If I were New Orleans, I'd pay Meachem over Colston, and then try to replace MC through the draft.

steve johnson anyone?

I think this guy is fool's gold. he clearly thinks more of himself than he should and he isn't really a top tier talent. that all adds up to bust to me.

The guy is young and made some mistakes that compared to anything that TO and Randy Moss ever did is pretty much nothing. Other than that, I don't see any signs of a bust...the guy was the ONLY target that the Bills had, played against some tough defenses in the AFC East, and did a decent job against Revis (according to Greg Cossell). The only negative I've heard about him is that he tends to drop the ball here and there.

If the Bills were dumb enough to let him walk, I wouldn't mind picking him up. Sure, he's not VJax or Bowe, but at 26 yrs old, he'd be a nice pick up to line up with Hank.

All these FA WR's are good, but all of them have a lot of question marks on them that I think are troubling and don't make me want to commit big money to them:

VJ: Why do you just disappear at times in games? Will you not drink and drive again? Will you continue to play at a high level once you get your big pay day.

Bowe: Will you make that tough catch over the middle and not get alligator arms? Will you play at a high level once your paid?

Colston: Are you only good because of Brees? Can you play a full 16 game season for me?

Stevie Johnson: Can you catch the ball in key situations? Why are you such a prima donna? Are you good only because the bills offense has no WR threats? Will you still play at a high level once you see the $ ?

DeSean: I know you're not leaving philly and their gonna franchise tag you, but can you stay healthy? Can you not be an idiot in games getting either a stupid penalty or being careless with the football? When we pay you will the same DeSean still be there?

Wes Welker: Can you not sign with NE? Can you be good with any other QB than Tom?

Mike Wallace: Can you not go to NE?

Reggie Wayne: How much do you have left in the tank?

Brandon Lloyd: Why weren't you this good when you were here?

Laurent Robinson: Are you only good because people fear Witten, Dez, and DeMarco more than you, or because this was your one and only breakout year?

Mario Manningham: Are you a No. 2 at best? How will you fair when I hand you a big check? Can you stay healthy? Are you only good because of the other Giant WR's?

I disagree. Marshall is really good. Period. I don't hear any over-hyping by the public, whoever they are. And the Saints talent consists on Brees and Insert any Wide Receiver Here. They were putting up points before those guys got there and will continue to do so when they're gone. Wouldn't over pay for any of them. Give Brees our WRs and they wouldnt skip a beat. Colston has Missed a bunch of games due to injury, and you'd hardly notice.

Ingram was a reach. They could have found a RB anywhere in the draft and put their first round pick to better use.
