Look for future Pro Football Hall of Fame running back Emmitt Smith to announce today his retirement from the Arizona Cardinals to join Reggie Fowler's investment group that is trying to buy the Vikings. Fowler's group also includes local automobile dealer Denny Hecker.
I'm sort of surprised this is the only place I've read this
I just heard it on ESPN radio

He was the only Cowboy ever that I didn't hate...
Glad he can go out with his dignity

Glad he can go out with his dignityI agree but I would add akman to the list as both were class acts just on the wrong team.

In the end, I mainly hated Michael Irvin.

It's about time! Emmitt was a great RB. The key word being was! Hopfully Eddie Gorge will fallow his lead.
This is 2 years too late, he should have retired as a Cowboy. I heard he might sign a 1 day deal with the Cowboys so he can officially retire with them.

Its funny though, I found a news story that said Emmit Smith denies retirement. The news story said the ESPN broke the news of Emmitt's retirement. Leave it to ESPN to be the tabloid sports news network like it seems like it has become. Then again, Smith has reached his twilight of his career. He has nothing left to prove!

Charlie Walters had this item in his column in the St. Paul Pioneer Press yesterday. The guy who owns the Timberwolves of the NBA wants to buy the Vikes but has only offered $475M while Red McCombs wants to sell the team for $600 - 650M.
Fowler has been flirting around the idea of buying an NFL franchise in the past but he hasn't had the amount of money that he would need as the "majority holder" to meet the league's net worth regulations.
Another potential buyer of the Vikes is rumored to be the guy who founded Gateway Computers. Now there is a guy who has the net worth to buy just about anything he damned well pleases. Supposedly, he would buy the team himself with NO partners at all.
Stay tuned for lots more stuff on this front in the next year or so.

I don't think the NFL would mind if Reggie Fowler got the Vikings because it would make him the league's first minority owner
