dmek25 02-15-2012, 03:21 PM He has played 5 games (good ones) in a 82 game season. I don't understand the hype? I mean I can see Knicks fans being excited but otherwise I think a lot of it is the media needs something to hype and the NBA is desperate for hype.
That league is dead to me. How can NCAA basketball be so exciting and the NBA is just a step above WWE?

2 of the top 10...might want to rethink its popularity?
Schneed10 02-15-2012, 03:23 PM so what?? you will forget his name in year.
Doubt it. How could he be worse going forward than other very good players at his position like Jrue Holiday and Ty Lawson? He'll at least outpace them.
You're probably right in saying he won't sustain this level of Rajon Rondo/Derrick Rose ish production. But he doesn't need to do that to keep the Knicks winning. He doesn't even need to be Steve Nash. It's all up to Carmelo, if he meshes with Lin and changes his ball-hog mindset, that team will run deep in the playoffs.
You might forget his name because you're not an NBA fan. I don't see how he drops out of the sport world's consciousness, though.

I love the NBA have watch as long as the NFL it is just gotten to the point where it seems fake to me. Thus my WWE reference.

I was not questioning it's popularity but it's realism.

The NBA is fake? I don't follow.

Wow, what idiot thought that was a good idea?
FRPLG 02-18-2012, 03:55 PM I mean on one hand it is so over the top offensive that it couldn't possibly have been done on purpose because no one could be so stupid to think it was a good idea. On the other how then did it get past the editing process?
SmootSmack 02-18-2012, 04:47 PM I believe, with reason, ESPN often gets unnecessarily criticized. But this was certainly indefensible.
mooby 02-19-2012, 02:15 PM ESPN statement on offensive Jeremy Lin comments - ESPN (http://espn.go.com/espn/story/_/id/7591778/espn-statement-offensive-jeremy-lin-comments)
At ESPN we are aware of three offensive and inappropriate comments made on ESPN outlets during our coverage of Jeremy Lin.
Saturday we apologized for two references. We have since learned of a similar reference Friday on ESPN Radio New York. The incidents were separate and different. We have engaged in a thorough review of all three and have taken the following action:
• The ESPN employee responsible for our Mobile headline has been dismissed.
• The ESPNEWS anchor has been suspended for 30 days.
• The radio commentator is not an ESPN employee.
We again apologize, especially to Mr. Lin. His accomplishments are a source of great pride to the Asian-American community, including the Asian-American employees at ESPN. Through self-examination, improved editorial practices and controls, and response to constructive criticism, we will be better in the future.
All appropriate steps IMO. Who was the ESPNN anchor though?
