Peyton Manning or RGIII your choice

For some reason, people think that we are going to acquire Manning by giving up all of our draft picks and not adding anything during the offseason. Well I am sure people don't necessarily think that, but are definitely acting like it. The funny thing is that acquiring Manning would allow us to use our draft picks to get some solid players, including a project QB. Also, with Manning on board, wouldn't the likes of VJax, Bowe, or Colston want to come to the Skins and play with Manning?

If Manning comes here, he won't be coming alone. We could very well add a WR from the deep class of FAs this offseason. We could get a stud interior lineman (I keep hearing DeCastro is the best) in the middle/late first round, and add a whole bunch of quality players in the later rounds. And we could also add our QB of the future. We could hopefully replicate what Kurt Warner did for Arizona when he went to play for them (and Warner was thought of being done after having a poor showing with the Giants).

I am fine with trading up for RG3, but I know the team would need to spend a lot in free agency, since I am sure we would need to use a lot picks in a trade. I think in this situation, we would need to be ready for another year of growing pains.

Right now as it stands, we are not a contender or a playoff team. However, if we land Manning, one of the top FA WRs, and a quality first/second/third rounder rookies (including our QB of the future), we could very well be a playoff team next season and still have a lot of youth that will carry this team for years to come.

I like everything you said except the last paragraph. In most of the games the Skins lost by 7 points or less. Better QB, Better WR's, this team I think is a play off team. Then you have Jenkins coming back to provide more of a rush against other teams then all I think the defense needs is a FS or two if Atogwe is not who we thought he would be.

SHHHHHH. Your optimism has got to be killing those fans who don't want to see anything but doom and gloom. You also wrecking their thought that we are so far away we need to get RGIII in order to get out of this hole. Because even though he has not done anything to establish himself in the NFL he's the franchise QB we need. Even though he's not a franchise QB yet.

I don't consider my post above to be optimistic. I see it as realism. How quickly we forget that the Super Bowl winner went 9-7 in the regular season and other such facts.

I dig your optimism mooby. Our defense, at its best, is nothing like the best defenses in the league, including the Giants'. That defense is pretty inconsistent over the course of an entire season but when they start to click they're easily a top 3 defense. At our very, very best we might break the top 10...but it's a stretch.

I'm glad you say that because it's better then the Patriots who had I think the worst or close to it yardage wise. People just couldn't score on them. Teams kinda had the same problem with the Skins.

I know it's going to kill you but lets look at the bright side.... our offense was good enough to beat the Giants twice and our defense kept Eli in check in both games we played.

I'll say it again. It's amazing how far apart this fan base is on how close the team is to being a winner.

I hope your optimism is correct but history tells me you are wrong.

If the Colts are such a SB contender with him why are they letting him hit the open market. Hmmmmm???? Hmmmmmm????

Surely it has nothing to do with PM probably telling the owner he won't play if they draft Luck. Hmmmm???? Hmmmmm?????

New GM, New HC, New Coaching staff... screams of we don't want anything from the past era clouding the new era. But if you really want to know.... we can wait and see instead of jumping to conclusions. If Irsay didn't want to keep PM he would not be wanting to meet with him. He would just cut him like the Raider did Routt. So there still is a chance PM stays probably depending on how their meeting goes.

In other words would PM take a back seat to Luck and I expect the answer would be no and PM released.

A lot of you guys are in love with the 30 year old Manning. The guy is not that anymore, he will come here stink and again egg will be on our face.

You know how you look at Oakland, Arizona, Cleveland, etc... and say god those are awful franchise, hello McFly that is how the rest of the football world views the Redskins.

So glad your on the same page. Just like going out and trading away several picks to get RGIII and ending up with a Vince Young. Just because he has the talent doesn't mean it will work out in the NFL.

dude right here you are saying we are a super bowl contender!

this was the quote you were answering to:

Read the fine print. He wants to play for a Super Bowl contender

I said SB? I said contender. If we make it into the first round are we not contenders? The non contenders are the teams that didn't get to the playoffs, or so I thought.

I don't think you can win with him anymore because he is not healthy. If he was truly healthy and his old self the Colts keep him and trade that pick for a king's ransom.

Uh... no. See PM is getting old and will need to be replaced. Now would be the perfect time to either move on with Luck or keep PM and let Luck develope. PM probably has as has been mentioned 2-3 yrs left. No way the Colts pass on their chance to get another PM.

I know some here have gotten defensive about their comments... but friend I'm on your side. I maybe more optimistic then you but I agree with what you said. I'm just using a little sarcasm in regards to the people who say we are far off.
