Roy Williams
Anquan Boldin
Lee Evans
Michael Clayton
Andre Johnson
There are 4 off the top of my head, and Im sure I could find more receivers that made an impact. That rookie from Dallas made an impact on us, it depends on what you consider impact. Those are the guys that put up big numbers.
Why don't you list 3 Dlinemen that made a splash in their rookie year in the last three years. It'll be a lot harder.

I am not one who buy's into a WR can't impact a team his first year if he's an exceptional talent he can, throughout the NFL time and again we see player's coming in and doing thing's everybody else say's they can't, the key is making sure the player you draft is a real talent and the situation they are put into is condusive to their talent's, how many free agent's can we afford to sign? Burress would be a big waste of money, we already have a Burress on our team his name is Gardner, I wan't to know who think's Burress's number's would be anywhere close to franchise type money playing for us the last 3 year's, he had everything going his way and still is not an elite reciever in spite of having that kind of talent, I don't wan't to here about his potential he's been in the league at least 4 year's and hasen't reached his potential yet? It ain't happening! Especially after a big pay day.

WE CANNOT DRAFT A WR IN THE FIRST ROUND AND EXPECT IT HELP US NEXT YEAR!!! Sorry but I had to yell that for all to hear...
Like Daseal says there are receivers that do make an impact, but I think you are right that we can't rely on a drafted wide receiver to be the "answer" to our wide receiver problem.
So, I think we will obtain a free agent, and draft a receiver at #9. Our needs are critical at that position, and we need to start developing a receiver for the longer haul here as soon as possible.
Coles is not a #1 receiver in my book until he can get healthy. We have a guy ready to make a real impact in Taylor Jacobs. We have Thrash to provide energy and speed as a backup. We can bring in a free agent receiver, but that isn't a slam dunk cure all. McCants is going to be gone I think and we know Gardner is.
So we can draft a receiver and get a free agent possibly. We can do both.

I don't think we have a second round pick?
if u read what i said u would have seen that i sed we trade down in the first and pick up a second, all that being said. i once again said that those were my ideal circumstances. i know they are very unlikely to happen. please read it before saying anyhting. thank u

If we take a WR with the 9th pick I would only want Mike Williams. I would rather see us trade down and pick up and mid teens to early 20's and a 2nd rounder. With that I say we take a DE Erasmus James if for some reason he is there if not Marcus Spears or Matt Roth then with the 2nd rounder take Carlos Rodgers if it doesn't look like we will be getting Smoot back. If we do get Smoot back and/or get a 2nd rounder for Gardner I say we seriously look at Fred Gibson. He is a real solid WR with good height and speed. Could be the possession guy everyone thought Gardner would be. With our later picks I say go after O-lineman especially a center. Gibbs and co. are good at finding steals with lineman in the late rounds.

My bad C. I wasn't trying to be a smartass. I knew we didn't have either a 2nd or 3rd round pick, I just wasn't sure exactly which one. Relax dogg.

I don't want to read too much into this, but I did find it kind of interesting that in his press conference Gibbs reiterated that finding a WR was a priority, as if to say, once again, that the person lined up behind center wasn't reallly the issue regarding the poor offense

I can't place his name, but someone mentioned that WR from South Carolina. Anyone think he might be worth picking up in the later rounds provided we don't select a WR with a first round pick or do you think he will be gone by then?

Troy Williamson, he would be a great pick up in a later round but I have heard some people have him as the second WR in the draft so I don;t think he will last out of the first round but if he does he would be a great pick up in the second round if we get a pick in there. I still wouldn't sleep on Fred Gibson in the 2nd or 3rd round
