Neither was Peyton Manning in his first two seasons.
exactly so why would they give up on an Elite QB for a rookie.. I could see them doing what GB did or SF with Montana/Young

Because the elite qb is in his mid 30's and is coming off health issues, whereas the rookie is in his early 20's and is touted as the best thing since that elite qb?

Plus the elite QB is scheduled to receive almost a quarter of the entire salary cap.

Cap wise the Colts have already said the 28M is not an issue meaning they could afford it, also remember Luck won't get crazy Bradford money at the beginning.

The Colts have already gutted the team and brought in a new regime all around. They have all but said they're moving on from Peyton Manning. Plus, Peyton is due $28 million by March 8th. At this point, they are building the team around Andrew Luck. That's why the Colts are willing to move Manning on to somewhere else.

I wouldn't totally write the Colts off, but it's a long shot

Ok I didn't see anything in this thread for atleast 2 pages back but here is another article about P.Manning, apparently everyone in the NFL already thinks the Skins have him locked in. ....
'Everyone in NFL' thinks Skins land Petyon Manning (http://network.yardbarker.com/nfl/article_external/everyone_in_nfl_thinks_skins_sign_manning/9815917)
Everyone” CBSSports’ Mike Freeman spoke to in the NFL believes the Skins will sign Peyton Manning if/when the future Hall of Famer hits free agency.
“And I mean just about everyone,” Freeman affirmed.
Edit: Sorry, not "locked in" as in already have a deal in place but everyone believes the Skins are going to get him.

If Peyton Manning actually does come to DC, do you think we'll go after RG3 as well? ...and if we do go after RG3, do we trade up to the #2 pick to get him or hope he falls to 6?
Im actually starting to believe that its at least a 75% chance Peyton signs with the Skins with all these rumors floating around.

I wouldnt think so. I say we most likely go Tackle, CB or WR. RG3 is NOT falling to us.

^ I don't know. Last night on the radio 106.7FM around 8:20pm I believe they were talking about our QB situation. They might have been referencing the Haslett article but they didn't elude to it. All they said was the Skins are not happy with the quality of QB's in the draft this year other then Luck and RGIII. Said rumor was they maybe thinking along the lines of picking up P.Manning or Orton this year, keeping Grossman as a backup, and possibly taking someone like Weeden. But their is either rumor or talk that the Skins may want to simply buy another year picking up OL to protect the QB and more weapons ie; WR's and next year go all in for Barkley. The rumor was MS and KS wanted to get Barkley this year and with Luck and RGIII most likely gone by #6 they might keep building the foundation so that next year they can bring in a Rookie QB (the one they wanted) and there won't be as big of a learning curve for them since the rest of the offensive players will already know the scheme and play calls.
