I See QB Rumors (2012 QB Thread: The Sixth Sense)

So I just saw this potential trade scenario:

Redskins get:
2012 2nd overall pick: RGIII

Rams get:
2012 6th overall pick
2013 1st rounder
2013 3rd rounder
2013 5th rounder

You guys still feel that's too much?

I would pay that in a second! I think it's cheap actually. No way we move up without including this years #2 in addition to next years #1.

Peyton Manning medically cleared to resume NFL career, per sources. More coming on ESPN now. #NFL32

Pretty huge news. Heard there was a pretty heated discussion among some of the NFL insiders at ESPN about what their sources are telling them. Oh how I miss those meetings.

But anyway, that's big if he's indeed cleared to play. Still think Jets and Cardinals are the favorites but I'm not hating the idea of him in B & G. Though I still don't believe we're officially interested

Some people here need to understand that franchise QB's are the hardest thing to find in the NFL.

When we offer up Orakpo, we're offering up a player that can be found draft, after draft, after draft. Pass rushers can be found not only in the first round, but a very few some have been found in the later rounds and undrafted.

When we are offering up 3rd, 4th, 5th rounders for a potential franchise QB. Picks (3,4,5) that are worth less and less in value for a potential QB, the Key to winning in this QB driven league; you make that trade, screw those picks for this year. This is the year you get that franchise QB at whatever cost it is.

Wouldn't that help our chances of that rumor of us getting Luck?

Absotively. And people also fail to realize that when you trade a high-priced player, you save his contract, which gives you cap room to sign a replacement (whether at his position or elsewhere).

Trading Orakpo would result in a net hit of about 1 mil this year, save almost 6 mil in 2013, and then he would be a FA anyway and command a contract that will probably average 9-12 mil per year. That is cap space the team can use.

Probably won't be a popular choice to bring up, but you could probably easily sign Anthony Spencer with that dough, with leftovers. Now, I don't think he is in Orakpo's class, but is the drop-off enough to dissuade you from getting a franchise QB? Not me.

I agree 100%. I don't understand how some people think we're going to give up some marginal picks and a ham sandwich and trade up for a franchise qb. If we trade up, it's gonna hurt. But it's worth it to get the franchise QB. The only disclaimer I have is that if you trade away lots of high picks, you sure as hell better land a franchise qb and not a Jason Campbell

Redskins Quarterbacks Ahead “Proceed With Caution” by Robert Ragan (aka “RexKelly”) « The Session (http://enterthesession.wordpress.com/2012/01/31/redskins-quarterbacks-ahead-proceed-with-caution/)

Im worried about Peyton's health but if he is good I say try to grab him.

I love RG3 but we need so much Im not sure if trading up is a good idea.

I think its going to be Kyle Orton and Rex Grossman in 2012.

Part of me says, "Jump all over that scenario and don't think twice."

The part of me which feels that fans and draft sites value RGIII more highly than NFL front office types says, "RGIII will be there at 6 so there's no point."

I feel he will be too.

Where'd you see that. And probably yes. I'm assuming we get no QB in FA in this scenario, no starting QB that is
